seajays
How would Saulosi get along in a 65 with Bumble Bees and Maingano? Thanks
Nyasa
Having never kept these I can only speculate based on what I've read. I think the bumblebee (Ps. crabro) are quite a bit larger and more aggressive and may not make good tankmates for this reason alone. The M. maingano have similar coloration to Ps. saulosi males and this may be troublesome come breeding time. That being said, I think M. maingano and Ps. crabro would get along fine with each other as far as mbuna go.
Fogelhund
Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos (maingano) and Pseudotropheus saulosi seem to get along quite fine. They would be a good mix in your aquarium. I have to agree on the other comments regarding the crabro, though personally it is one of the few fish that I really don't like at all. These regularly grow to 8", and I've seen 10". The males when full grown are a brown colouration, and tend to get misproportioned. In my opinion, they are the least attractive Malawi cichlid when full grown. With their size, and disposition, I don't think they make good fish for a 65 gallon. dunl
I'll second the cyaneorhabdos and saulosi. I am actually thinking of possibly doing a cyaneorhabdos and msobo tank sometime, and the msobos are similar to the saulosi (males are blotched instead of striped). And yes, stay away from the crabos, unless you're looking for large, ugly Malawis.
seajays
Thanks for the info, but too late about the Crabos. I got 6 at the last auction. I didn't know they get that big. I guess I will have to sell them when they get bigger.
