Yasper
Our tank has a few scratches in the glass. They were not really noticeable when the tank was first set up, but now that there's some algae growth they stand out. Not about to replace the glass on the front at this point, just wondering if anyone has a recommendation for something that would be suitable to clean algae out of the scratches. The regular cleaning pad thingie, while good for the surface, doesn't really reach into the scratches very well. hmmm... maybe a toothbrush... Smokey
Welcome to the wonderful world of algae frustration. Anything like razor blades, steel wool, ETC. ---DO NOT USE!!!!! This type of material only scratches the glass and compounds the situation. I use a BarBeque hand brush on the shop tanks. They are made of a coarse black fiber, sort of a algae brush on steriods. Strong enough to remove algae; yet does not scratch the glass. AND comes with a tough handle. As for removing scratchs from glass; very difficult. All a person could do is "Polish the scratch out". Which is very time consuming, and costly. The compounds are pricey. and difficult to locate. HTH Smokey Any other suggestions / expierences ??. pokie
Put a bottle of algae rid in your tank that will do it and then it will be good for a month or so maybe longer! I use it in my acrlic holding tanks alot.

Smokey
OHHH, and the best way to control algae; W/C's, clean gravel, and wipe the glass [ornaments, etc.] clean. Smokey
