  1. I like them too. I don't find them distracting at all. However, I think the pooing horse smiley should be added to the clickable smiley list.
  2. Golds sells the XP3 for 169.00 By the time you convert from USD and take into account shipping costs and stuff, it may not be that much cheaper. For that filter anyway.
  3. OK, for the same price as the three little pads you get in the Reno filter box, I picked up a 2.18 x 2.74m sheet of quilt batting at Fabricland rather than the foam. I got the pre-packaged stuff pictured here: http://www.fabriclandwest.com/quilters%20c...at_we_carry.htm Specifically, the third one listed. I was gonna get them to cut me some off the bulk roll, but it was scary being in a fabric store all by myself. I had to get out before I got any strange ideas like purchasing silk to make a Pirate Shirt. YARRRR!! In any case, I'm still a little hesitant to put this in my filters. It says it's 100% polyester and all, but asking an employee there if there may be any additives to the fibre that could be harmful to fish got me a look like On this thread, and other boards, I've read enough times that many folks use quilt batting in their filters, so it's probably ok. Just wondering if anyone uses this particular brand with no problems.
  4. I can understand the cleaning stuff and the beer, but I'm having trouble figuring out what the ketchup is for....?
  5. I don't think that would make Mr Pleco very happy

Around 20 bucks, and I think we got 110 to 120 lbs. We selected from a pile that the rock was 1" to 3" in thickness, not sorted. It's a bit more expensive if you choose from the sorted piles, like all 1 inch or all 2 inch thicknesses. Which worked out well as we were looking for assorted sizes anyway. Dammit Jim, we're decorating a fishtank, not building a sidewalk!

Check out Burnco. We picked up well over 100 lbs of rundle rock there for 20 bucks or so. It is a dark flat rock like slate so that could be an option. HAHA! before posting, I checked their website, and they have several types of slate: http://www.burnco.com/RetailWeb/web/retail...type=03&siteid=

    Hi

Silly, no. Crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, yes.
  9. There's also some "cookie cutter" setup suggestions for different sized tanks here: http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/quic...erence_list.php
  10. Not that it really matters, but seems board posts show standard time rather than daylight time. This, of course, will be moot soon. Unless board time changes automatically. So I'm a tad anal about time.... :P It's about TIME someone was HAHAHA!!!
  11. Our tank has a few scratches in the glass. They were not really noticeable when the tank was first set up, but now that there's some algae growth they stand out. Not about to replace the glass on the front at this point, just wondering if anyone has a recommendation for something that would be suitable to clean algae out of the scratches. The regular cleaning pad thingie, while good for the surface, doesn't really reach into the scratches very well. hmmm... maybe a toothbrush...

    Hi

Just so you know... my real name isn't Yasper. I mean, c'mon. That would just be silly.
  13. Gonna give it a try. There's plenty of filtration before the water gets to the final compartment where I want to put these, this is just for the final polishing. I've tried rinsing out those reno pads, but they tend to fall apart and that's why I wanted something a little more permanent or less expensive. Thanks
