neely
i can get a line on some cheap glass and i was wondering where i would go about getting the plastic frames for tanks? what are they worth?
Smokey
The frames for tanks are expensive!! $15.00 for a small tank [ 5-10gal][$25.00.$35.00, etc, ]. The moulding on the larger tanks is $2.50+ per foot. Look around for tanks that have been broken, get the frames for cheap/free. Put an add in the buy/sell section. Usually the bottom will fit on the top. What thickness glass can you get - mm?. [4,5,6, mil]. What is the size of the glass. What size tank do you want to build????? neely
i can get glass from school, any size and as well as thickness- so it depends on the tank frame size i guess
Smokey
From My Personal Expierence, do not use anything thinner than 5mil. / preferably 6 mil. Old glass may not break true. Frames on a tank under 36 inchs x 12 x 16 are not necessary for strength. using 6 mil glass. [ L X W X H ]. Do not raise the bottom glass. flush with the vertical glass. USE THE WRAP-AROUND-CONSTRUCTION METHOD. etc. Have you built a tank before [??]. It can be rewarding OR frustrating. Smokey
FishmanCalgary
If you want to find frames, most of them come from All Glass Aquarium, out of the states. They have a website, just don't know it off hand. Once again the frame is usualy more expensive than the glass. Try the bargain finder and find a tank there. Might be less stress Good luck.
