ABwildrose
I was wondering if a pleco will overwinter in an outdoor pond...or even if they are a good candidate for an outdoor pond. Will they eat pond plants?
dunl
I might be wrong but I don't think they do very well with colder temps.
Madness
I have had common plecos in my outdoor pond for years, but I always bring them back inside in the fall. They tend to be a little too sensitive to the temps at a small size, but I have never lost one over 8" in the pond yet... I definetly would reccomend bringing them inside for the winter, they don't do very well once the temp drops below 60F. I usually worry more about my koi and turtles eating the pond plants than the plecos, theres always plenty of algae on the rocks for them.
