maniac
Why is it that I have noticed with plecos that some of them have an L- and a number when referring to them? Is it that way with other fish? What does it mean? Sorry its been on my curiousity for a while now. :eh: Maniac Edited September 19, 2006 by maniac
Qattarra
This is simply a means of identifying them. There are so many different ones. A lot of them have names, but it makes it easier to use the number. My cherished plecos are L260 Queen Arabesque .
jvision
There are so many fish being discovered, but the taxonimists haven't had the time to fully describe them with a proper name. So, Loracarids (suckermouth catfish) are given L-numbers. Corydoras are given C-numbers. Dwarf SA cichlids are given cf. names. African cichlids are given collection locale names.
