  1. Or it could be an Albino Rubesence.....
  2. Does anyone have a link or book that shows a dummy how to set up a sump and aquarium step by step? I have found lots of partial info but nothing complete with good pictures and detailed explantion...
  3. I agree go with sand not gravel... Sil 7 or 8 instead of play sand that traps gas / Its easy to vacum the debris off the top ... IMO looks more natural can
  4. The battle of bare and planted with substrate... I personally think both are fine... I have a planted tank with a lot of tangled branchy wood / the look apeals to me and the fish seem to like it I have seen a few bare bottom tanks that looked great with the Discus being the whole picture.... so I can apreciate that as well. So I believe its personal prefrence!
  5. Very sound advice and comments..... I would not trade my Discus tank for anything... I have a total of 13 and want to add more /
  6. If I were you I would spend some time on the Simply Discus Forum / there is a lot of information on that site regarding Discus that you can trust.
  7. I have over a hundred Rummynose in one of my tanks... by far the best schooling fish in my estimation / there are some videos on youtube to back up my claim if you do a search... If you keep the water in good condition the red on their heads will be bright blood red...
  8. What brand is this black silicone? I will be resealing one of my tanks as soon as I can convince myself to get rid of a couple of fish I have in a 75G / they have been spoken for a couple of times and as fate would have it the people never showed up LOL guess it is fate....
  9. There is a good chance that he will breed / you will likely have to use an ro water mix to get the water to his liking and then find him a mate... you should be able to find an abundance of suitable females... this is a common spiecies with of them domestically bred.
  10. I didnt even notice that key...multi quote... well that makes it even easier to do Thanks for bringing that to our attention Jerry
  11. You can use a snippy or snippet tool / depending on what window version you are running on your computer / that is an exe that you can download onto your computer..free online
  12. If this works out I would only be interested in a male as my african tank is an all male tank.

  13. http://www.angelsplus.com/PumpsRepair.htm I plan on ordering at least 1 of these pumps that are good for up to 12 air filters.... I have to order it from the states so I checked to see what the cost would be... for two pumps / the cost of the pumps and shipping come to 120 US / so about 130 canadian give or take a buck or two. I would be willing to split the cost of this with someone if they like... 65 for a pump like this is very good value... Let me know / I am going to order in a couple of days. Jerry
  14. Honestly I wouldnt bother testing the c02 constantly with that size of tank with 5 or so bubbles per second... waste of money / If anything I would measure your PH with the use of an electronic ph indicator that you can buy off of ebay for around 20bucks that will last a long time.. there is a chart that you can look up that is a simple calculation on the net somewhere / I just cant remember exactly where at the moment that is easy to use .... quite honestly I really think you have nothing to worry about as long as you stay within the 3 to 7 bubble range... you need to get rid of the ac and the airstone as they create to much agitation and displace your co2 quickly.. good luck At the moment with the AC filter and airstone the
  15. 4-5 bubles per second for that size of tank / assuming you have a good difuser and it is located in a good area of your aquarium.
  16. If one fish has ich they all have it... treat the whole tank! Raise the temperature and treat the tank with rid ich to kill the ich.
  17. I would be interested in some of the transcriptus 6 or so / how big are the fry?

  18. Water is PH 6.5 TDS is about 100PPM RO-tap water is mixed 1/2 and 1/2 so it is quite soft.... aged for 3 days and I change 50% of the water weekly. And yes the little ones are feeding off the mothers slime coat... The chances of this batch of fry surviving is not good because of the other fish in the tank / I need to move this pair to another tank by themselves... I know some of the fry were already picked off by preditors... its imposible to move the pair with the fry swiming at Her side because they are so small you cant even net them..... The main thing is I know that they are a proven pair and I know the water perameters are correct and viable... The stock is grade A from Forestt's stock purchased from April in Vancouver, so they are of high quality.
  19. Looky looky... my Grade Blue Diamond and Fire Red female... laid eggs several days ago and guess what I have wigglers today.... not sure how long they will last because they are in a tank with 11 other Discus 100+ Rummy Nose Tetras...5 clown loaches and a couple of bristle nose......
  20. Ok I have two spiecies of cyps... Blue Flash and Utinta... now I have to decide what other tangs I am going to put into my tank... I want to put other tangs that dont dig to much as I would like to put some plants in the tank as well.. Ideas needed Thanks
  21. MY guess is that they fed the cyps flake food... try crushing the flake food before throwing it into the tank... cyps like small food
  22. They dont like caves like that...waste of time in my opinion
  23. I have rock work over sand... so there are several places where they can make caves between flat rocks and sand... the caves are very narrow and small voids.
