  1. The Electric Blue Jack Dempsey. I d o not hav ethe tank room for it right now.
  2. Any corydoras sp.! They are so cute the way they troll across the bottom looking for food and they are always out where you can see them. There is a lot of different ones to choose from.
  3. Most snails are hermaphrodites but not all of them. If they are hermaphrodites they do need another snail to fertilize their eggs. I don't think any of them can self-fertilize.
  4. How soon should I feed the babies?
  5. As I was watching her she ate one so I put her in the tank. I figure that was a good indication she overstayed her welcome in the breeding trap. I still have 16 babies left though! Cool! I haven't had babies in a long time!
  6. I went shopping today at Nature's Corner Store (fun as always) I was there to buy more filters for my tanks as one of mine had broken. (booo!) On a whim I bought 3 spotted platies. I am not sure what exactly they are called but they are very pretty. To my surprise when I went to put them into my tank I noticed 2 tiny babies in the bottom of the bag. During careful observation I figured out which one was giving birth and got out my breeding trap. I popped her in expecting her to stop giving birth right away due to the stress of the trap. She did not! She is currently pooping out more babies as I type this! I think she is up to 20 now and looking kinda empty. Anyone know how long I can leave her in there before the babies start looking like lunch?
  7. Handsome fella you got there! I saw the pictures on facebook! Way more attractive than former high school friend's pictures of their kids. (Don't tell them that though)
  8. When you washeed his filter it wasn't in tapwater was it? Tapwater kills the effectiveness of the filter. When you clean the filter do it in water from the tank or treat the water with the drops first.
  9. Perhaps. Since this posting I put black sand in my cherry tank and they are all stunning red. Also I have been giving them the nls more often.
  10. They weren't babies. Well one of them was, but ti was all of them the baby and the adults.
  11. Over the course of a day all of my limia have died. Nothing I did stopped the march of death. No water change, no research, no worried clothes-rending. It started this morning when I got up to one tiny corpse on the bottom of the tank. Then came the series of water tests. All within normal parameters. Then the frantic water changes and careful observation. Then the series of tiny deaths. Now they are all gone. Perhaps they were too advanced for me? Inadequate filtration? Darn it! Why can't I know everything about this hobby RIGHT NOW?
  12. Since most of my cherries are from you and mine are a deep dark red perhaps it is diet. Mine get hikari sinking wafers and NLS. Only a couple of them have a truly stunning red the rest are more light red.
  13. In the last order of cherry shrimp I bought I got 2 bonus zebra shrimp. I was wondering if there is any easily visible difference between the sexes in zebra shrimp? The two shrimp look the same, but I am hoping that is because they are still young and that they are really a m/f pair. Also, will they crossbreed with the cherries?
  14. That is so funny. A snail running away. I am glad you caught it. LOL
  15. In the third picture mama looks proud. Congratulations again Nick!
  16. Or you could spend a couple of bucks on the bus to come into the University station and I can give you one of the extra bottles I have lying around. I am not going to drive them out to you. These people aren't kidding if you do not treat the ich all of your fish will sicken and die.
  17. Pretty round fishies! You must be proud Gina!
  18. I am glad they are so small or you would not have any fingers left!
  19. They are new to me too. Thanks for posting the link Sue! I love learning more about bettas and fish in general. I found this very interesting.
  20. The second pic is quite good! Isn't feeding time so much fun in the shrimp thank? I love shrimpies! Nice tank.
