  1. The target playsand goes for about 5.00 for a 50lb bag, just make sure it's washed real good, took forever to settle the first time I used it haha, other than that it's great stuff.
  2. Amazing shots.. I really enjoy looking at macro shots, mainly because it impresses me how clear some cameras out there can get and how close they are....Just makes me wonder about my camera haha.
  3. I love these kind of storms...To light up a completely dark sky as if it were daylight is a feature that impresses the hell out of me.
  4. It's said that breeding between true blood parrots can't happen(reason behind no scientific name), but there are some varied types that can sucessfully get it done. Here's another article I read a while back about breeding: Although Parrots have been known to mate and even lay eggs, generally they are infertile. There have been sporatic cases of successful spawnings, generally when they have been crossed with a non-hybrid fish. Like other cichlids, Blood Parrots will tend the eggs and resulting fry fastidiously. As with any eggs, those that are infertile will turn white and rapidly fungus. The parents will eat infertile eggs to prevent them from spreading fungus to the fertile eggs.
  5. That is insane, those pictures are amazing, really good job!
  6. Thanks ...The storm didn't really amount up to much here, the lightning was intense, and the wind was fairly strong, but we didn't get anything close to what they were calling for on the net, just a needed downpour and a good light show
  7. This thing was wild! I even got a decent picture using a crappy digital camera, imagine what you guys could have gotten! haha
  8. I was observing my tank today and noticed on of my gold barbs belly was fatter than the other ones: It's in that area, this isnt my actual fish just a pic off the net. It's pretty big, so I'm not sure whether or not its just chunky or pregnant, anyone know? I tried to get an actual picture but, my camera is fairly crappy haha. Thanks
  9. Highest mine have hit was 84 in the basement, ive been keeping my lights off alot as well.
  10. Those are some amazing shots, nice lookin' fish.
  11. Haha you get like me when I don't catch any fish, I get all ashamed, then go back the next couple of days and attempt to 'put a hurtin' on the fish.
  12. Wow that's awesome to hear. I have my sister feeding the fish as I'm gone, she has done it before so she knows how much to feed them. Thanks alot everyone! Ryan
  13. Hey, I need some ideas here. I am planning on leaving to my dads house this weekend for close to a month or a little less. I'm not really sure if I should pack my fish up and take them with me or what, the only problem is I don't have anyone to clean their tank while I am gone, so it would be a month without cleaning and that's not working for me. Any suggestions? Would the fish be alright for a like 4 hour trip give or take?
  14. Wow i've never actually looked up a Neolamprologus sexfasciatus, I just did and wow I love them haha awesome pictures!
  15. Got any full tank shots? Fish look good!
  16. Or you can always get a big rubber maid container and transfer all the water and inhabitants into that.
  17. From what I heard it's dormant bacteria put in a tube, you used to have to keep in refrigerated then once you put them in your filter it would warm up the bacteria and they would come alive or whatever and supposedly fully cycle your tank in '24 hours'. They changed it so that you don't have to keep it in the fridge, not sure how though. But yeah it isn't available in Canada sadly.
  18. Couldn't find a lid at the time, got em now ha. They were my hybrids, could have left em on the floor and helped the fish world out I guess, but I'm no killer haha they aren't leaving my tank.
  19. Haha I was doing a really big water change, and decided to move the fish out and put them in seperate pales ( avoided ) but I had to run my mom to work and pick up the pizza so I got home, ran down stairs and looked into the pales where I only saw 2 pales with fish in them, two pales were empty :| So I franticly looked around the floor and sure enough there were two fish laying on their sides half way cross the room, I grabbed one that was breathing still, put him in the water, grabbed the other one that didn't look like it was breathing, put it in and I guess my fishing came into play here haha I gently grabbed the one that wasn't breathing and pushed him back in forth in the water trying to get a flow through, it worked in like 10 secs he was swimming again, same with the other one. I kept them in seperate tanks for about a day to give them a rest, and didn't see any signs of trauma or injuries, so I put them back in the main tank today. I was really happy to see them live haha close call. Needless to say, lesson learnt.
