  1. Welcome aboard For algae eaters in a planted tank... I like the Algae eating shrimp. They don't do a fantastic job, but they certainly do look good climbing around on everything. Hope ya enjoy the use of this forum
  2. Welcome aboard. (If you're looking for a 3 figure tank in the near future, lemme know cause currently my 150full sump setup setup is for sale) Gotta love the clownloaches. They must be my all time favourite fish Ty
  3. LoL... How much would it cost exactly to convert a 5.5 gallon into a nano???... would I need to go for a sump on that small of a tank? If its cheap, I'll definately consider converting
  4. I got my 300 on my trim of my 90gallon.. no problem A 500 should fit fine
  5. I use an AC300 on my 10gallon tank, and I don't notice the 1" Afra's in there blowing around too much, so I don't think an ac500 (running at its slowest speed), would be much of a problem.
  6. Anyone Nano boys willing to accept money or beer to turn my 5.5gallon into a nanotank? Im getting jealous
  7. my female: Bad picture, but you can see her with the male
  8. Hobby motor is your best bet. I have some professional remote control cars, and their little motors would work great, becase you can control the speed of revolutions. Whats it for exactly?
  9. Sure will! I'm selling a good number of them. I gotta make room for me soon to be born fry!
  10. Hey Kyle! They started breeding already. Got 2 holding females!!! She's holding sooo many! Quite recently too, cause I watched the male dig out a hole about 5"x4" around... maybe 3" deep a few nights ago, under the driftwood Yay! Also have 2 more preg Elongtas Mpanga's!! yay for preggies!
  11. Alrighty, just curious. Thanks kyle You'd be selling yourself short yes, but I think thats the easiest way to describe it, and maybe in brackets or on a side note, mention that one of the parents were wild. Hmm
  12. Rd, question for you. Ya know that saying, how does it go. Lets take in it in a home theatre direction. "Your system will be as good as the worst component" Couldn't one call the offspring of a wildxF1, an F2? (Being that the F1 parent is the "worst")
  13. Welcome Care to share with us what fish/reptiles ya keep? This is a great resource for any fish hobbiest
  14. I don't remember where I was... maybe the petland on 130ave, and they had ghost crayfish Quite kewl
  15. All I did is throw th 15.99 ballast one top of the glass tops Works great When kyle gets home, msg him and see if he has any pictures of the top he made. It looks awesome!
  16. Thats a 150gallon (5'x2'x2'). Gots lots of fishies in there. Red flush breeding group, 8 F1 tropheops, 6 red fin borleyi, 6 yellow tail acei, 5 elongtas mpanga, 9 electric yellows, 1 male taiwan reef, 4 red emp females... Im forgetting something... owell, yeah. Lots of nice fishies. in the picture of the crappy lights, at the top, you can see my overly colorful elongtas mpanga. He's hot. Gotta add. Since I've added more bright lights, my fish look twice as good! Mmm nice fishies
  17. and for the hellova it... this is what the tank looked like before I added the new 48" strip.
  18. Ok, so this is a continuation from the one that we had in the buy/sell section: From the Rona Ballast that I bought for $15.99, I decided to buy some plant/aquarum lights from HD. They looked like this on the tank: (Notice the yellow on the sand in the background. The sand in the front looks fine, because there are good bulbs on the front half. So, to contrast the good bulbs that I had from before, to these new "plant/aquarium lights, look at the new picture. The one standing up is the lights I like. The one laying down is the crappy ones.) SO I went back and for less than half the cost, I got 2 6500k for $5.96 (thats 5.96 for both!, compared to the $7 something for EACH plant/aquarium light) This is what they look like: I'd like to thank Blkwolfe for pointing me in the direction of the better lights. To really see how nice they look, you'd have to see em in person. Its hard to capture them with a digi-camera. I wish I took more pictures of the crappy plant/aquarium bulbs before I returned them In short!, I hate those damn Aquarium/plant bulbs! WASTE OF MONEY, IMO
  19. I personally would go with a magdrive 1800 Go to quickgrow, they should be around $250 range Or magdrive 1200 for $205 (thats what I use on my 150g with 33g sump)
  20. How big is the tank above it, and how big are the output and input tubes?
  21. lol, I don't really care. If I don't pay attention to what Im typing, my grammer and spelling go right into the crapper I like numbers more than letters anywayz
  22. lol It was a long day yesterday, and that was posted at the ended of it. :P I know its spelt quiet, I just tend to type faster than I can think, and then I get myself into some trouble.
  23. I had a large electric blue crayfish in with my piranha... he would catch the feeders and eat em up... but every now and then he'd grab the 4" piranha by the head, and try to eat him... wasn't pretty. I'd probably keep a lobster by himself...
  24. My anubias grow slow under .5wpg, and they just rock out new leaves (2 aweek atleast), in my 5.5gallon with 25 watts on it... don't know what type of anubias they are exactly. They had some anubias at the auction that was atleast 6" tall... so I know some types will.
