  1. If you were to phone golds and talk to dennis, Im sure you could get mitch to send exactly what you need before the auction next week (Someone could drive it up for you) Im guessing with a generic size like that, he might have the trim ready. Or less he could just send you the stuff like on customs
  2. I've had experience with this, and it was a success. I found my Kribs love to stay around my lavarock piles, and the yellows loved to just dart around everyone. Mind you these fish were only 2-3", nothing huge, and there were other species in there aswell (some more aggressive than the yellows) All in All, if added at the same time, or the yellows added last, it should work fine without any problems!
  3. When you say deep, you mean the side width, not the height right? I have some 4'x2'x4" styrofoam waiting for me to start siliconing and carving, as I was interested in making one. I wouldn't be worried about the styrofoam melting, as you paint it in cement paint, and then you make sure it doesn't touch the sides. IT does take up a lot of room, but they look fantastic! Im still considering it, I just can't afford the plexiglass that I need to go along with my design. Hmm...
  4. WC I thought were from 3"-5"... Mine at home are 5" and 6". The male is freakishly large maybe closer to 7. I have never really gotten the chance to really measure him. Im just basing it on guesses.. I've unfortinately never seen Kyle's WC's But yeah, I don't think thats Freakishly large, when comparing to mine
  5. The red flush is a peacock that looks quite similiar but not quite exact as the redshoulders. The multichromis zerbriod is just the name that I got stuck on, that Fishmancalgary breeds. Other people here helped me ID more precisely, but for the like of my I can't remember what that was, mostly because I like the sounds of multichromis Zerbiod a lot more =) Just search back in the african section, its in there somewhere. Also have em pictured every now and then on my msn. Right now hoever its just a mino's reef. But yeah.
  6. Just updating the fry list/preg Female list that I have going right now. 2 3" Red flush--holding approx 90 combined 1 3" Multichromis zerbriod -- holding approx 20 1 5" Electric Yellow (YAY! its been 5 mths!)--Holding approx 35 1 3" electric yellow -- Holding approx 20 Current fry in holding: approx 75 Red flush (1cm atleast) approx 10 Multichromis (1cm atleast) approx 10 1cm and approx 15 3cm electric yellows Sooooooooo, in about 4 weeks the 1cm fry will be ready to go, the 3cm fry are ready already (great color), 10 on hold however. The fry that are currently being held will be ready in hopefully 3mths. Yay Fry Party!
  7. Ey, good point! I keep forgetting you can diy one of them. Im not 100% sure those work, so I've just perferred my glass internal overflow on my 150, and my 90gallon just has a AC300/Fluval404 on it, so there is no point in trying to put more on there. If you do an external overflow, I'd agree with anything over about 75gallons.
  8. I completely agree with Canuckle.. expect where he says anything over 75gallons... Personally I would only do a sump on 100gallon plus... just because It takes up room inside of a tank, and on a smaller tank, the overflow will look quite large! But thats just my preference.
  9. It really depends on the fish, the tank, and the water parameters. I've put fish together and seen females holding within the first week. I've also put fish together, take my electric yellow group, and they haven't bred once yet, and its been 5months.
  10. Cobalt blues are also mouthbrooders. 3 ways I use to tell the sex of an electric yellow: 1. judge by coloring, dominmant males normally get black smudges here and there on their faces 2. Vent them (There are a few websites and a thread here that can tell you how to do this. Pretty much you look at the anus and other spot, and judge by spacing and size) 3. Throw them all together, and as you see the mouths drop on some of them (Filled with eggs), you just remember that one is a female. I normally double check mine by pulling them out, holding them head up, and looking in their mouths for eggs. Then I place them in a 10gallon until I can strip them when the egg sacs are off the fry. Some of signs on the flameback should be similar if not the same to cobalts and electric yellows Good luck with the fry raising!
  11. Thanks for the responses, but as of a few weeks ago, that fish went into Dunl's possesion. Maybe he has some better pics of it. Its a strange fish, thats all I know.
  12. Canukle, you have the identical setup as me right now, with slight differences. My tank is 150gallon... my sump is 33gallon, and I use the mag12. Tank and sump come from the same guy Dennis gets his from... So you guys are saying stuff the top part before the bioballs with batting??
  13. I don't think that last one is a fryeri.. the eyes seems to small compared to the ones I own and have seen. Dunno, it could be so many things. Nice pics tho, looks good
  14. I still hate you with jealousy... Arg! Yeah, those scene shots are amazing. I don't think I would ever consider eating my africans... I would have just skipped trying them and stayed with the can of beans.
  15. Do you mean where it comes out of the pipe into the tray with bioballs? I've been having trouble keeping my quiet. Right now Im working on shutting up the sucking sound off the standpipe, but Im affraid to cut off the flow all together... Just confused at where you mean. I've been trying to design something to quite it a bit... but I haven't thought of anything. I've been thinking of taking some plexi glass with 1/2" or 1/4" holes drilled all over the place, then jamming that close to the outtake to allow it to disperse better and slow down the fall so it doesn't splash as much. Same for underneath when it leaves the bioball area and falls to the bottom.
  16. I like to add aquaplus as my tap fills a 20gallon pail. Then I let it sit for atleast 15minutes (precaution cause I don't want to risk anything), but normally I leave it over night if I can wait that long. Its always better safe than sorry.
  17. Im gonna agree that Eheims are quite pricey, but if you have the cash available, they are worth your money. Personally I only have a Fluval 404, and that thing works wonders and can be a pain in my @$$ at the same time. Sometimes I takes me a good 5 minutes to get it flowing. Easiest way to get a stubborn fluval started is seal it, then tilt it on its side, start it up, then slowly tilt it back vertical. I've heard great things about the Rena's, expecially for their price. Most people will definately tell you to go with an Eheim, because they are worth the cost difference. The only reason I still use my fluval is cause I know how to get it primed problem free (Tilting method) Ty

    T5's

Excuse my stupidity, but can you say what you been by NO and VHO? All I really know is that I have a 90 gallon, with some basic low light plants that I want to give some more light. Kyle and I were looking at t5's, and that seems to be the safest easiest cheapish way to go, and get good light for the money. We saw some low watt and high wattage, and the high wattage was a bit more money in some cases, and Im just confused if its actually worth it to bump up the wattage a bit. Im a newbie to lighting!

    T5's

Looking for some information on the t5 lights. Seems like they are popular at some places... take Pisces having 4 on each plant tank. How big of a difference is there in the 54W compared to the... 27W i think it was. Some places charge the same, but in theory wouldn't the 54W be much brighter?? The Reflector, does it make a huge difference?? (On an enclosed wooden canopy that is...) thanks
  20. :welcome: Good sized tank Wife... Fish... Hmm.. Toughy
  21. Thanks guys Hopefully ina few months or so, they'll be breeding size....
  22. At home depot they start at about $18 for decent sized 3mm plexi.... the size you want (I looked at 4'x2', and it costs about $35 if im not mistaken) Personally... go with the eggcrate, and find a safe way to paint it. Maybe even use the cement stuff that we talked about using on the 3d backgrounds (I still haven't decided if im gonna start mine... I got the styro sitting around doing nothing) Ty
  23. That plastic stuff, the only problem I see.. is that its hallow and crap may build up, and nitrates my find their way into it, and sit and rest and possibly rot. I don't really know though... I've been reluctant to use it incase fry swim up it
