  1. That is a nice looking black tanzanian acei. With any luck I will be having a few more of those swimming around my tank. They are very nice fish.
  2. he looks great against that substrate!!
  3. very nice looking bunch of fish!!
  4. That looks very nice, good job  . Both pics show nice healthy looking plants.
  5. wow, that looks terrific...great job
  6. that looks good...does it work well too?
  7. ok...I think we got it fixed. We didn't have it centered well enough over the hole. It seems very snug now and no leaks. We will wait and see if it stays that way and then maybe run a bit of silicone around the underside just to be on the safe side. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I reached down and felt around the bottom and the gasket is there and intact.
  8. I think there is supposed to be a rubber gasket thing that presses down and seals the opening ...at least that is what my husband says is supposed to happen. The cracked tightening ring thing on the smaller plastic pipe (the one that pumps the water back into the main tank) is holding fine. My husband put a metal hose clamp on it and it is fine. The water leaks out of the larger one at a pretty fast rate. Perhaps the rubber gasket thing moved a bit or isnt flat or something. It is hard to see what is happening down at the bottom of the overflow.
  9. wow, that is a beautiful fish
  10. Well, I got my new (used) aquarium set up and the seal to drain the water into the sump tank leaks. My husband tried to tighten the fitting to stop the leak and he said it popped the thread or something. He seems to think the hole is too big for the size of pipe in it as there is too much movement from the pipe when it is wiggled. Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it? My husband seems to think that he will just tighten it as much as possible and then smear a whole bunch of silicone on it. If there is still a leak, it will just drain into the sump tank directly below it. I am a little leery of that plan because to be honest, I don't remotely understand the principle behind the whole drain pipe/ drilled tank/ pump thing. I am not exactly thrilled with the prospect of a ton of water on my floor.
  11. I saw a solid coffee table that someone made once that looked like solid rock. She covered a plain table with something and painted it. It had the appearance and the texture of rock. It was very light, no heavier than a regular coffe table.
  12. mine is very dominant too. He likes to breed with the yellow labs, so I am thinking he is a saulosi/yellow lab hybrid. When I saw yours, I was hoping perhaps he was something else.
  13. very nice job!!! Pass my compliments to your husband for the stand. Nice choice of rocks too. What kind of fish is that first one you pictured. Yellow with the black on the top fin, the pale blue on the side with 4 verticle stripes on his side. I have one exactly like that.
  14. I will be waiting for those pics!!!
  15. that looks really good...very heavy tho
  16. yup, it worked thanks. Actually, there was hardly anything on there once I actually checked closer...but it worked on cleaning out the sump tank.
  17. I want to clean out the white deposits on my new tank. It was previously a saltwater tank and I will be using it for freshwater. Is vinegar and water ok? Or is that bad to use in a tank. Or will just plain water work?
  18. I love that rock setup. I can't help you on fish ID's tho.
  19. very nice that last one is a really cool effect.
  20. I was thinking along the same lines as Hosstile...I just couldn't figure out how to say it lmao Good comeback Harold
  21. my kids used to name the fish. Always something like Spot, Spotless, Stripey, Goldy, Snow White, etc. I always knew which one they were referring to. Our hamsters were Peaches, Brownie, Whitey and Blackie. My nephew got a hamster and named him Jesse...my kids rolled their eyes and said "what kind of a stupid name it that, he is tan."
