  1. Thanks, I'll go shopping for prices today!
  2. Hey J-Roc Question about the 2217's ....can you clean them, they don't look like a regular canister as you can see through them and they seem like a sealed unit.....how do they work? They are on sale for $119.00 each at pet solutions, that is american though
  3. Welcome, you have some interesting fish there! :welcome:
  4. Hey Smokey! Thanks for all that, great summary of my confusing little mind! I would personally love to have a sump, but is there somewhere you can buy them!!..haha! I really can even fathem the thought of putting one together, I am lacking a handy male half in my life, and I have a total of 3 screw drivers in my non existant tool box! I do want to make sure I buy the best possible equipment, like I said if it takes me 2 years to purchase the tanks and all accesories, thats cool, but quality is impportant. My Stepfather is building the tank stand (hes a carpenter!) and it could take hime that long to get that built! Then the tank and geez the list goes on and on I am leaning towards 2 canister filters, either the Eheim 2217 x2 or some comparable comparison, I know I have a tendancy to over stock so the more the merrier! Thanks again! Jodaye
  5. Ya honestly, I cry at the thought at having to build a sump, I read the articals and have no idea what any of it is, Im a firm beleiver that canister filters were designed for people like me!! so I think what I'll do it get that filter and perhaps add an AQ 500 to it, or another canister who knows, but its gonna take me some time to get everythng collected for this tank, one thing I may challenge is the cool 3D backgrounds I've seen around.....and maybe even the undergravel powerheads, that looks sweet! Thanks for all your opinions, this is where you really reap the benifit of being part of a forum like this, hope to be of some help to the rest of you in the future, oh and don't think im done asking your advice!! Jodaye
  6. ya I wouldn't even know where to begin, Im so not handy! and I hear they take up alot of space that I don't have, this is going to be a show tank and I wouldn't know where to put all the containers and hoses so they weren't in the way and/or view?? Im thinking I may have to go with 2 canister filters to keep up with the filtration though
  7. Pet solutions Well the Aqua Clear 500 doesn't exist on Petsolutions, but there is a 110 for 32.99, above link, same filter?? Im kinda a fan of a canister filter, but I have an hangy one on my 29gal and it is easy to clean etc, but the canisters you have to clean less often. 3 of the Aqua clears would to the job on a tank that size though hey, I am just researching this for now looking for the best equipment at the best price...we all have more time than money!! What about the Fluval 404 for $89.99 american, not enough fitration??
  8. Can any one offer thier opinion on a filter for a 120-150 gal tank. There is a great price on a Filstar xp3 on petsolution that will filter up to 175gal, for 94.99 american, but Im not sure on the quality of the filter??
  9. Sorry the thing that made up my mind is the white outline of all the fins and tail.
  10. it looks like the one I have as my Avatar, elongatus Mpanga, this one doesn't look too happy though, I have one of these.
  11. I have used craft quality silks in my aquarium and I just soaked them in hot (not boiling, will warp the plasic if there is any!) water to rid them of any leaching dye! I found them very ok ;-)
  12. Melafix is a great solution, I know your tank is big and it could be costly but you can add it to the big tank and not disturb her life! I would also make sure the water is very clean to prevent infection. Good luck! She's a cool fish! Jods
  13. Piper (the ginger one with 6 toes per foot) and Apples (the princess!)
