I was in the Raddison building today on Memorial and 28St SE and they have a tank in the lobby. Nice tank and I remember there bring large silver dollars in it, but today there were parrot fish in it. THere were white ones and pink one and some almost red ones. I noticed some of them were blotched with red/pink. THEN I saw a blue one. Well it was more terquoise than anything. THere were about 30-40 little parrots in it. Anyway......Do parrots come in blue?? or was he dyed? I would have one if they were blue!

If your ammonia and Nitrites are zero, do a water change %50 before adding livestock. Thats what I did anyhow

I vote mushroom.

I would think that there would be die off on all of the rock, I would also think that any rock put in will cause some ammonia. I take a brush to my live rock after it has sat for a couple days in a salt mix. That way I can check it out and not brush the spots that have something I want to keep on it. If it is an established tank and you dont want another ammonia spike maybe put the rock in a water mix with heat and light for a couple weeks and that way some of the die off will occur in the bucket, or keep checking levels and wait till it cycles in the bucket before adding it. OH and I do this to rock that only took 15 min to get home.

No not interested. well...I think I only say that because I have seen others photos and I cant even come close to the product they produce. So yes ok do you think it would work with such a small community?

I babysat when I was young (better than delivering papers) and I felt the same way about kids until I had my own, Now I tolerate other peoples kids. lol With the boxing week specials on I Couldn't resist, and when I thought I was had enough, My wife TOLD me to buy the 17lb rock...So I couldn't disappoint her. OH that 17lber is the rock on the left. I still plan on making an order for Base rock tho, I am currently sitting at about 60lbs or so. I plan on ordering another 20-40 lbs base rock and then work from there. I want a little in the sump and want to fill in the tank in a couple spots. If there is any left over then HEY I have some for another tank

Cheato now? I have some but I am worried about spreading my hair algae problem in the 33 to this one. as for the flow I am still working on my position with the return, trying to get a good down draft, makes an ugly tank for a bit with the floating debris

Well since the price was so low for the boxing week sale I had to get a little more live rock. so this is how it sits right now. hope the diatoms dont last to long

My plans to cycle my new tank
FishBrain replied to Barracuda-m's topic in General Aquaria Discussion
Or you can salt the water and add a bunch of live rock and let it do its own thing! -
Here are some of my clowns and friends
-
Oh Hey they were cute looking. Those would definatly NOT be for food
-
I see that shawn but I dont use hormones "Since then, the hormone -induced breeding of Clown Loaches has become a fairly regular occurence within the ornamental fish trade" This quote is above the pictures of the fry At least that is how I understand this page

Found this on one of the rocks I bought, hard to get a good pick but right in the center you will see the polyps Cool colouring on them too
-
Yeah I'm not holding my breath thats for sure. People who claim to have bred them also say that they eat live fish before breeding. Im not holding my breath, but they had been acting wierd lately, doing the old fight/love movements and their colours didnt change as per usual. So I thought I would question it. Fairdeal: Are there pics of the asian bred ones? Thanks

Nice shots Connie I love my Turquoise rainbows, they add great colour
-
In the past they allow you to carry on any animal that will crap in a box but not one that craps in water. They would rather you clean up your dog poo that stunk up the whloe plane but dont want to chance water on the floor

Thanks Darcy! Golds!! The selection they had was awesome and I think today is the last day for 4.99/lb

Holy what a night you had! Keep us informed on the wiggly one. Gl

To me that is one of the most interesting parts of a reef tank, discovering all of the new critters and plants that appear as time goes by. The changes that occur over the first few months are just amazing, and discovering some new coral or other creature you hadn't planned on is more fun than going out and buying one. Well most of the time anyways, I have had a few I would rather do without. I totaly agree with you. So far I have found that clam and over night it moved 4" down the side of the rock and has managed to stick there, there is what I believe to be the smallest Anemone ever seen. It looks just like my BTA but is the size of my baby fingernail, and it has been on the move aswell. Took me a little bit to find it again this morning. Tons of mini feather dusters, and now another type of anemone (prob Aiptasia) with my luck heehee. it is white with a black ring around where the tentacles attach to the stalk (head?) and some neat little worms? look like a garden worm but short and it seems to have sections throughout its body. I pulled one out of the hole thinking it was dead but it proved me wrong, it seemed to be hard on the head where it was sticking out of the rock but the rest of its body is soft and looks like a worm. Now that the lights are on I am staring at it constantly!!!

And it has begun I am going to be adding more rock but this is the first few shots end shot corner shot Found a clam of some kind on the live rock and so far it has made it

If its noisy you might also want to check the shaft that the impellor rides on. they do wear down

Great shots Connie! Keep them comin'
