  1. I got the ricordia at Golds. Green with green mouths and green with orange mouths. They have more but I think the pieces they have left are huge and kinda pricey. Elite has been promissing mushroom frags including rics( he thinks) for a while(not in yet). Probably in the next week or two. The piece I got had 11 shrooms on it and I broke a piece with three on it off in hopes of selling it after they recover for a bit. The rock split right under one of the shrooms so its kinda just hangin there at the moment. Also the part that I broke off was up against another rock so they look kinda bad right now. They are supposed to be pretty tough so I expect that they will recover fully. Did you get the pic thing figured out yet? The suspense is killing me. Wanna see your guys tank. So here are some pics o rics.Oh yeah and the "Super Mario" mush that was unhappy a week ago.
  2. Well I added a six line wrasse to replace Jumpy the firefish. I was gonna wait til after I move but I couldnt stand looking at one lonely ocellaris in my tank. WAS really worried about moving the SW tank but Colby at Elite said that since my new house is only a few blocks away I really shouldnt stress about it to much. Have read about some BAD tank moves. And ....I got my ricordia!!! . I'm so pumped.I will try to get a couple shots of Streaky the six line, and some pics o rics in a day or two once things have settled in.
  3. Another couple things you may want to think about. Frogspawn dont like alot of flow so perhaps trying him in a diferent spot in the tank would help(couldnt hurt at this point). Now I'm no expert so someone else may want to chine in on this but Colby at Elite mentioned to me once that nls contains trace amounts of copper and I should really consider something else for feeding. For fowlr its "ok" and for fresh water its pretty much the best but with corals....not so much. Also some thing else to try might be to turn of your circulation for a half hour to an hour when you spot feed to give the corals time to do their thing. Or maybe try feeding at night when the sweeper tentacles should be out. Do you use any additives like calcium, strontium or iodide? Ok so that was more like five things to think about but the more bases you cover the better right?
  4. Looks good man. More time and more money lol and it will be kick a$$.
  5. Wow, wish I could get my fish to sit still for a second so I could get great pics like that. Seems like I have to take 100 to get 1 decent 1.
  6. Thanks alot shark. He probably would have charged me for it but I spoted one single little shroom in one of his big tanks. When he went to grab it we realized that it wasnt attached to the piece of rock that it was sitting on so thats why I think I got the freebie. Elite is one of my favorite stores and Colby is a really good guy.
  7. Was my first loss with this tank (asside from my hermits killing a couple snails). Oh well...live and learn right? Well I decided to trade one of my chunks of xenia to zylumn for a hynophora rigata frag. Added an emerald crab and got a free "super mario" shroom. Here's pics of the new stuff and a few more growth pics.
  8. My firefish peter paned out of the tank yesterday and became a CCC( crispy carpet critter) rip little buddie  Guess I pushed my luck with him to long. Was gonna do something about the open top after I move in a couple weeks. At least on the bright side I get to make another fishy decission. Cest la vie. Tank shots from this past weekend( last shot of Jumpy the firefish).
  9. If you go with white sand think about aragonite sand( for at least some of your total) to help buffer the water harder naturally.
  10. 20g is way to small, they need a min of 4'. And the jumbo variety can be a little aggressive( at least min are). I have 6m and 7f. There is two schools of thought on m/f ratios. 1:1 ratios leed to more than 1 or 2 males reaching full color were 1:3 will likely leed to just 1 or 2 male showing dominant coloring but is a more natural ratio. Its up to you really. But they definatly say a min group size should be 6 or 7, but the biggest school you can manage will be best for the fish. There are guys on cichlidforum that keep them in schools of 2 or 3 dozen and say that their behavior completly changes in a school that big.If you want more in depth info on them check out cichlidforum.com.
  11. I must say that if anyone is looking for a great deal on some sps frags give snappy a pm.Hes the man. Thanks Karen .....I have 1 or 3 must have corals that I want to add( ricordia, favia, and some kind of killer zoas like blues, ppe or armor of god.) then I will let things grow in.
  12. Tiger barbs and other asian and south american tetras do best in softer water and dont adapt as easily to the hard water conditions africans do best in. That why I suggested zebra or leopard danios A) they are cheap( so if 1 does end up getting attacked it not that big o deal) they are very agile swimmers (again to help them to not get attacked) c) they are highly adaptable to a wide range of water conditions. But just my .02 cents. Let us know what you decide to go with and how it works out for ya.
  13. I have some adult tri-colors that I got from golds, that I'm parting with. Check my post in the livestock forum.
  14. What did you think of Gregs tank Karen? Wow eh? Got another couple growth pics(Birdsnest and GSP), and a couple more update pics. Red palys from "cag" Green and 1 lonley orange zoas from "cag" Red mush(is more red in person)
  15. You can go with one but will miss out on observing potential spawning behavior. You need to be sure of a male and a female if you go with two. Unless you have a huge tank two males will likely end up being one. Calvus are actually rather timid as far as africans go(with other fish). Calvus do seem to do best with some sort of dither fish. Cyps or congo tetras if you want to stay african or any other fast swimming schooling fish. I've used zebra and leopard danios( cheap and very adaptable to water conditions) rainbows, and cpys as dithers. Any synodontis would be ok.Not sure about the sand or plants( only ever used plastic with my tangs).Just a heads up, if you do go with a leluepi and the dark substrate, you can expect the leluepi do get rather dark in color(almost orange).
  16. Thanks for the comps guys and gals. I get comps from my friends and family all the time, but it means more coming from peeps who actually know what it takes to get an aquarium to look good. The 55g is an All Glass starter kit from Petland. The lighting is the stock single strip 18", 15w florecent x2. I ditched the whisper (I think) filter and all glass heater ( use it for mixing Salt water), and replaced them with 2- Ac 50s and a 200w Jager heater.
  17. The 110g pic is from a couple months ago. It went through a pretty major bout with algae. I started feeding a bit less and its pretty much gone now. Thanks btw.
  18. Well after some gentle prodding by Thegr8Blade aka Wendy, I thought I'd post some pics of my tanks. 110g Tanganiykan 75g Tanganiykan 55g South American/Community 20g Shellie
  19. Noticed that my little birdsnest frag is starting to branch out allready(2 weeks). :smokey:
  20. Tanks gals( Karen and Wendy). Got any pics of you alls tanks. Love oggeling girls....um....equipment. :smokey: Here is some updated pics from today.
  21. Very nice. Great pics too. Hows about a full tank shot?
  22. Wanna introduce me to your friend. :smokey: Very nice shrooms
  23. Thanks guys. Murm I started the tank with tap water and boom....algae. Since then I switched to RO and I've pretty much got a handle on the bad algaes. Was thinkin bout some kind of blenny or goby...but really like the royal grammas. Dont know if I should push 4 fish in a 20g. I dont know we'll see....no hurry.
