Ryan: I have some that you can add to food to treat that way. Not enough for baths. Jonah

SO any rare or dwarf cichlids? Jonah
-
what cichlids are you bringing winging it?
-
Yup. I have kept them as singles. Usually one of the larger aggressive males that cannot behave with the rest. Js

Talk to charles or mykiss for here or bcaquaria...they usually have leve hcl. Jonah
-
Males have the "wrinkle" behind their eyes. Check out thepufferforum.com and search their pufferpedia. Jonah

with the sunken belly look...i would say it is an internal parasite. Callamanus is easily treated with levamisole hcl. Treat all tank equipment as well as they can easily spread to all tanks. Jonah

It reminds me of camallanus infestation I had when I was breeding apisto triple red. I used levamisole hcl to treat it. Bad bug if it is camallanus. Jonah

mbu puffers are not overly difficult. Just gets really big. This one is still a baby and a slow grower but have grown quite a bit since I got it. Needs hard shelled foods to keep the beaks trimmed. Frequent waterchange will make it happy. Jonah

Another one from Blackfalds...WELCOME!

I wouldn't say ONLY. I had mine and they were eating NLS. I had them for about 6 and so months before I sold them.I heard they are finicky eaters but I guess I got lucky. Jonah

Is anybody else addicted to breeding fish??
fatpuffer replied to fishclubgirl's topic in Breeding Forum
I enjoy breeding challenging fish. I started with the easiest many years ago...CONVICTS! Then plakat, peacock gudgeon, apisto cac. triple red, guppies, mollies, platies, and numerous other cichlids. Now I do not have a lot of time but still enjoy the challenge. I am currently working on the Electric Blue JD. Half way there. I would say it is not addicting but rewarding. Jonah -
No clue. BUT WOW! Come in ppl. what is it?

More updated pics(angle is not the greatest): No flash w/ flash Kimbo Js

The other one was not fat...just big boned...LOL> Jonah
-
The EBJD is just over 6 inches total length. This one is not growing like my other EBJD...but i do like his shape better. Almost like a mini-JD. Jonah

Thanks guys. The ebjd and jd were in a tank at floor level...they were skittish and spook easily. Now they are higher up...they are out and about. Bunch of pigs. Jonah
-
Thanks. No plants here. There are cichlids in there that would just destroy it. I do like the driftwood look. THe one on the left side I found when I was going for a walk. Took a month to sink...LOL. Jonah

I decided to change my bowfront to a rectangular tank with a bigger footprint. This is the finish product...a little cloudy still: EBJD and potential mates Jonah

Pea puffers are the same as dwarf puffer tetraodon transvancoricus (sp?). Js

thanks for that neil...I was looking for that link. I do understand what you were saying...thus, I am waiting for them to pair up. I will do A LOT of culling once I do get fry as I only want the strongest ones. Same As I did with this ones 6 from 500+ fry I kept, the rest was food. The second time around...I kept ten out of a bigger batch...now down to 6 again...lucky number eh! Jonah

Buying BGJD can be tricky as many breeders do protect their stock. Be careful and only buy from reputable breeder as there is no way to tell the difference between bgjd and regular jd until they breed and you look at the offspring. It will be cheaper and more beneficial for all of us if you and guzoo breed your own bgjd. Takes a bit of patience but they will eventually do the deed. Then we can all benefit with trades to increase bloodlines. Tips for breeding: 1. Clean water 2. Mine likes the tanin coloured water...they seem to be less skittish. 3. Dimmer lighting 4. Feed high protein diet i.e. shrimp pieces prior to a bigger 30-50% water change with cooler water. 5. Ensure that they have a cave or terra cotta pot for laying eggs. 6. Dither fish worked well for me...I put in giant danios and that tend to get the pair going. Hope this helps. Jonah

Neil is RD here on AA...sorry. EBJD x EBJD may produce fry but the mortality rate is pretty much 100%. Thus you have to cross it with a regular JD to get BGJD.
