  1. What a cutie! Ever thought of trying agility?
  2. So she should be moved in about 3 1/2 weeks then? If I can set it up should I try to cycle the 10 or should I leave it uncycled? There are quite a few places to hide, maybe I'll try getting a picture of my tank. It's about half filled with rocks with all of the plants they've uprooted floating on top.
  3. I have a 10 gallon tank but I don't have a filter or heater for it. How long until the eggs hatch? What do you think their chances of survival will be if I left her in the main tank?
  4. She's holding?! My first cichlid babies I have no idea how to go about stripping the eggs or even if I should, the tank is Acei and Yellow Labs, will they interbreed? I'd rather not strip them....
  5. Was showing my Mom the Acei in my tank today and noticed one of them has puffed out the bottom of, I guess it would be the throat area. Just behind the mouth where it's normally smooth it is now in more of a U shape. Does anyone know why this is and is it something I should worry about? These are my first Cichlids so I don't have a whole lot of experience here. Other then this the fish looks normal.
  6. I would have to go with the Bichers... just because I really like them.
  7. I have Yellow Labs and Yellow Tail Acei. Love them both, wish I had room for more! (Or just that my husband would let me set up another tank)
  8. I got it also, from "Sexvideos", they've been deleted. I'm assuming it's a spammer. What a loser
  9. Sounds good, thanks! I ended up getting a good deal on another fluval so I'll have 140ish filtration on my tank. I'm thinking of putting the hoses in the oppsite way of the one I have now. So there will be an output at the top and an intake at the bottom at each side of the tank. Good idea?
  10. I was just wondering if 2 - 70 gallon rated canister filters would be to much filtration/flow for my 50 gallon cichlid tank? It's currently stocked with Acei and Labs. I know I need another filter, I'm just worried that might be to much for it.
  11. Hi, welcome! Slave Lake is a very nice area, I've spent a lot of time up there at my Aunt & Uncles place.
  12. And a big thanks from me and my BN as well
  13. I was wanting to make a tile cave for my BN and I was wondering if there was a specific kind of silicone that I should use? What is safe to use in an aquarium? I saw in one article regular construction silicone was used, I have to assume it is safe but I was wanting a little more info.
  14. I'm the same as Werner, I never handle them, the one time I did I got hives on my fingers (I only touched them for a second). I found the frozen ones were better since I was more likely to inhale dust from the freeze dried ones. I have an easier time not touching them then trying not to inhale dust.
  15. There's one I'm pretty sure is a female if you go by the fins and 2 others I think are boys (the 2 who keep facing off) other then that it's up for grabs.
  16. You guys aren't telling me what I want to hear!!! I wanted to hear "Oh sure, it's easy...." ALL of my yellows have the black fins on the bottom of their body... some hold them out, some tuck them in but they all seem to have a fair amount of it. What exactly do you mean by undercarriages, the fins on the bottom of their body or something else?
  17. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this? I've seen some agression in my tank and I think I have a few to many males and not enough females.
  18. I have a crypt wendtii in another tank and it grew like stink without anything special for years. In this tank I use Excel and Flourish once or twice a week. I have no idea how often it sends out new leaves and I guess my main concern is because the leaves are darker then what shows up in the picture. I'm not sure if it's the natural colouration of the plant and it's just slow growing or if it needs something. Everything else in that tank grows like stink... maybe it's just loosing in the fight for nutrients? It's about time for me to clean out the najas again.
  19. And does it look alright to you? It's washed out a little in the picture, the leaves are actually a bit darker. I'm not sure what it is and/or if I need to do something else to take better care of it, it is very slow growing.
  20. Thanks for the tip... it's a planted cichlid tank so I'll look into the Eheim but they sound like they might be out of my budget.
  21. Thanks, I work really close to Natures so I'll run down there and check them out. I was thinking I'd get a filter rated for a 50 since the other one is already rated for a 75. If anyone has any more tips please don't hesitate to let me know.
  22. I'm looking to add a second filter to my cichlid tank, it's a 50 gallon with a fluval cannister filter that is rated for a 75 gallon tank. What kind of filter is the best choice to go with it? Would another cannister be alright? I don't really want to use a HOB since the lid of the tank isn't designed for it and I didn't really want to give up the space inside for any internal filters. Also, what brand would you go with? I have the fluval because it came with the tank and I think they are a pretty good filter but the ones I saw were a bit pricey. I'd like to stay with a fairly economical brand.
  23. I would go with Endlers, as mentioned all males is fine. They might have beat on the female before if there weren't enough hiding spots in the tank for her or if the m:f ratio was bad. I wouldn't do Platies since they do get bigger and are a bit of a dirty fish.
