  1. Don't quite remember the fish, but I know they have a lot of exotic reptiles and such that I hadn't seen elsewhere. Not huge but definitely worth a look.
  2. For me it is like meditation; a stress reliever or sorts. I come home from work and spend some time with my tanks. Either cleaning, rearranging or just watching and enjoying the creation. The movement of the fish (I have a community tank) or seeing the plants grow and spread.
  3. I am no expert on keeping these guys, but I do have five of them. They are always hiding in the roots of my anubius that I have have growing on my driftwood. They are in a community tank and make brief appearances during feeding time. They will pick up any leftovers from feeding the others. Hope this helps. Trevor
  4. I found the same thing with mine. If I actually logged out it was not a problem.

    Hello

31 yr old male. Married 2 kids; 3 yrs and 7 mo. Keeping fish for 4 yrs two tanks; 20 gal planted/community and 10 gal cherry and tiger shrimps. Trevor
  6. I was in the store; the top row a little high but the koi on the floor very cool.
  7. I learned that lesson the hard way as well. $30 worth of cherries to $8 worth of Paradise Fish.
  8. I had an electric blue for a week and I got rid of it. My plants we're being dug up and my fish started disappearing. I guess I learned what happens when I buy things that look "cool" before doing my homework.
  9. I have both types in my 10g. I bought some of each off of Toirtis as he said that they will not cross breed. As far as I can tell though the males are a little smaller and slender then the females.
  10. Try an pull up a little carpet if at all possible because you will need to air out the carpet cushion as well. The carpet cushion will actually hold more of the water than the carpet. Fans work well but it still may take some time to get rid of the smell. Good Luck!
  11. :welcome: I picked up my Black Sand for my 10g shrimp tank at Aquarium Illusions. Trevor
  12. I have seen them in Big Al's - Edmonton.
  13. Thanks for the comments. I appreciate the advice also.
  14. Cherry and Tiger Shrimp http://s243.photobucket.com/albums/ff254/T...pandFish007.jpg sorry if the image is a little blurry. Just got our digital camera still figuring out how to work it. 20g Community / Planted http://s243.photobucket.com/albums/ff254/T...pandFish009.jpg
  15. I could help out if they could make it to Edmonton. I could house them in a rubber maid container until I go to Saskatoon, My dad and friend have large ponds that would enjoy new inhabitants. Trevor
  16. Thanks, I guess I answered my own question, glad for the insight on other species.
  17. How good are kuhli loaches at keeping the snail population under control? I have 6 and my snails population seems to be growing. Is there something better to keep in a 20g community tank to help with the snails? Trevor
  18. I use it in my 20gal planted / community for that reason. Didn't want the hassle of CO2 injection.
  19. Awesome thanks for the info. I put some of the Java Fern into the shrimp tank and I want the plants looking good in there also.
  20. I was looking at and enjoying my shrimp tank when I noticed tiny little wormy things. They are about 1mm thick and about 5 or 6mm long. They are white in colour and kind of look like an inch worm and squiggle in the water. Does anyone one what these may be or if they may be harmful to my shrimp?
  21. This may sound like a dumb question, but is it ok to dose in my shrimp tank?
  22. Thanks for the insight on our "little mishap". I will try different bulbs as per your suggestion. Everything else looks fine. Currently I am not running a heater because it is still insanely hot. The filter is running fine and the light was plugged into a digital timer and the timer is working properly. All the electrical units are being run by the same power bar. Sorry if I did not make myself clear earlier, but the lights I am using are 2 Life Glo 120V 60Hz 15Watt...hope that makes more sense. Once again thanks for the advice.
  23. We had a little accident at home on Friday. My son put the canopy for my 10gal cherry shrimp tank into the water. My wife found it like that while I was at work. She pulled out the canopy and said it smelled like something was burning. I unscrewed the lights when I got home and let everything dry out over the weekend. When I returned home I screwed back in on of the lights into both sides and tried the lights nothing happened. Make question is did I just cook the lights or am I looking to replace the whole canopy? Any thoughts?
