  1. I dunno if I would be vacuuming saltwater substrate like that. You would release all the nasties and could kill off your tank. FW it would probably work A-OK
  2. FPC in Sherwood Park has a few different plecos I've never seen before. There was some black with white spots and black and white stripes(Royal?). The coolest ones by far was green spotted ones, they were olive green with light green spots I never seen one before but at $65 I didn't pick one up. Thought I would put out an FYI
  3. Yeah watch out the sweepers will get longer than that. Mine are soooo long he has a quarter of a 29G to himself. It's kinda funny when the sweepers really stretch out and tangle up into a knot
  4. http://www.edmontonreefers.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=56 Maybe some curious freshwater peeps wanna come to meet. See some reefs shoot the BS, eat some awesome cookies and of coarse trade frags, equipment what have you. Usually a pretty good turnout for the handful of salties there is
  5. I need to get my planted tank up and running.......BUT I have to get my 90 reef going I am so over grown on my nanos it's pitiful who woulda corals grow so fast  After that is up and running good THEN a planted with the rams, which is also new to me I can grown corals like there going outta style, but I cannot keep a FW plant alive....go figure
  6. Ok after chasing 3 little fish around with a camera for a couple days and outta 50 or so pics these are the best pics I got....don't mind the aglae on my decorations it's been a couple years since they have been pulled out and scrubbed This one I'm pretty sure is a male Male on the left and what I know think is a female on the right (notice the "bump") Little better pic of the female Can anyone confirm?
  7. 4 Saltwater, 2 freshwater, 3 sitting empty(1 my future 90G reef & 1 my future 33g planted) oh and a guppy/endler tank at work
  8. I got to stop in today and chat with Henry for few minutes store is looking real good salt has come a long way. Wish I coulda talk longer but was on the way to pick up a new tank
  9. Hey thanks for getting those pics. NOW that it is pointed out I can see a diiference. The extended bump is the female. I do have a very slight bump on one and nothing on the other 2. I'm trying to get pics of mine but I can only get a pic of the photogenic one. Maybe tonight when the room is dark I'll try

    Hello

Yo!!!! welcome to the addiction....er I mean hobby
  13. They'll have more SW tanks than Big Als - that's what I'm saying... that's what I was told. I don't know what the total gallonage will be, tho. With BA's big shark tank, it'll be hard to have more gallons of SW than them! YESSSSS !!!!!
  14. *Chants*....Jason, Jason, Jason, Jason .....come to the salty side
  15. I started in about 1976-77 with a 10G with the chrome trim and the cotton an carbon filter. I went through several goldfish in my 1st year then a truck came to town sell rainbow trout fingerlings to the farmers for trout ponds. So I got a couple and not long after 1 died and I had the other for about a year before he got to big and we let him go in a deep dugout. Then in about 1982-83 I got a 20G with plastic trim and I moved into tetras they were sooooo much cooler than goldfish. After that I had guppies for about 10 years. Then I got out of fish for a couple years when I moved to Alberta. Then I got back into tetras which we are still doing but in a couple 47 gallons. I still have the the 20 year old 20G. It now houses a saltwater reef. I kinda jumped of the cichlid stage which now i trying to get into
  16. Not the best pics kinda far away 20G 29G grow out Even a little video (few months old) http://media.putfile.com/ghetto-2
  17. I think it would copper. Orrrr they are killing each other for their shells , are they changing shells? Are they physical gone? or are you seeing bodies? because they do molt and it looks like a dead body, if so doing a moving shell count to make sure. When I was a newbie I thought they were dying also but after I counted they were all they.
  18. I'll agree on that "I" like the look of the sand its more natural and I would think less stressful on the fish
  19. Sounds like they are flatworms .....and no they are not good
  20. Good to go mine been under water for a year
  21. I like the 4L idea more stable and less prone to tipping over and a lot more rigid and shouldn't suck in. You should be able to hood the hose in where you normally would hook in the surface air hose, or you could stuff it in the foam under it and let the bubbles go thru the pump....just be careful that the vacuum isn't to good and suck in the bottle and putting the mixture in your tank.
  22. Wouldn't all the sponges and bio-balls just become a nitrate factory? I maybe a little more experienced with SW and I took out all my sponges and balls out and reduced my nitates big time. Would FW be different? I took half the sponges in my fluval of my FW to get them lower, and just siphon my gravel better and a 20% water changes every week.
