Actually, I believe she's gravid and ready to lay a few more eggs. And I will enjoy the new lens once I can actually use it. 10 minutes last night hasn't quite been enough to judge yet. Talk about being busy at the wrong time -01-

So the long and short of it, I decided to take a plunge and invest in some more equipment to broaden my photographic horizons. Today I received a 105mm macro lens for my camera today, which allows me to take pictures of really-really tiny things. I present to you the very first pictures I’ve ever taken with it, so be kind. Neolamprologus multifasciatus (female, aproximately 1.5"): Neolamprologus multifasciatus (juvinile, aproximately 1")

Unfortunately they lose that wonderful color almost immediately in captivity.

That is a sexy tank, want to send it my way?

Arrrrr, I be hijacking any thar thread that crosses me path on the high seas of the interweb. Nothing anymore. The rainclouds parted and the heavens delivered unto me a 1.8lb package of happiness (via Fedex).

I was going to say "it's a cheaper vice then... " but it's really not. At least it hasn't been for me of late. Side note, Canadian customs -> :boom:

Likewise.

He's definately making progress and will likely turn out to be a pretty boy. Might take a few years though, the C. moorii aren't the quickest growers in the world. I had a group that I was growing out for about 2 years, finally were making some progress and then lost the entire tank in a freak incident.

With a title like "froggie at work" I figured I'd have had a beer in my hand. Also, I feel bad for everyone who had to wake up to a picture of me in the morning. How horrifying!

That picture... should I be aroused or disgusted? :hey:

I have an Altolamprologus calvus that's around the 10 year mark.

It's not just for fish! Since I switched to NLS my colors have been more vivid, my personality more dynamic and I've been breeding more regularly!
-
Very, very nice looking Aulonocara! The pictures are quite good as well. One thing I would suggest however is to try to make your crops a bit looser. They come off as a tad claustrophobic.

Ptychochromis katria: -
This is a continuation of my 1 hour picture session at Davids on Jan 1st. Neither of these are common fish, the first is a Victorian cichlid and the second is from Madagascar, Paralabidochromis chromogynos:

That's awesome. Seriously. Awesome. Oh and this is the fish if anyones interested: http://albertaaquatica.com/index.php?showtopic=5457

Check out this MONSTER Black Piranha!

Don't be mean to the fish! -
I can answer this! David uses a Konica-minolta Dimage Z3.

I stopped by my friend David Callele's house for a little over an hour this evening to take a few pictures. The first from this visit that I'll post is his largest Paratilapia polleni "large spot". He actually had another P. polleni in another tank that was quite a bit nicer. Unfortunately none of the pictures from that tank turned out for some reason. *cough* Top up your water David! *cough*

I decided this morning that I was going to rework the P. motoro picture I posted here awhile back a little. While I was doing that I realized that I had a number of stingray pictures from another photo-session that I hadn't done anything with! Since a few people were clamoring for more, here they are: P. motoro (female): Rays topping: P. reticulatus: Enjoy!

David’s description is correct, a macro is considered to be a minimum of a 1:1 reproduction of the object on the film or digital sensor. As such none of these pictures are actually true macro shots. But that doesn't stop them from being nice pictures! I need to get into reefing, I don't have nearly enough expensive hobbies.
-
Well, you can certainly acquire the first two easily enough. I’m far from using fancy or expensive equipment here. It’s pretty much all “lower tier" (for a dSLR). That buffalo-head picture is great, it looks quite sharp. Can you send me the full picture before the crop? I'm curious. I wish I had a lense that would allow me to focus within 10" let alone 1 cm!

Very clean, nice looking Yellow Labs.

Yes, Enough astaxanthin can cause a "pinkish hue" to appear in just about any fish.

I do have an sync-cord for my flash which is a Nikon SB600.
