The phone number for Bow Valley Aquariums (Mitch) is (403) 272-4960 . He has nothing to do with Cameron Management.
  2. Wal-Mart carries Lepage Extreme Repair Adhesive for about $6 for a small squeeze tube. It sets fast and is aquarium safe. I keep some on hand at all times.
  3. Thanks so much for all the advice and responses. Your help is sincerely appreciated.
  4. How big are your Rainbows? I may be able to take a pair off your hands for my Mom's tank. Send me a PM when you get a chance and we can discuss.
  5. I am looking into buying a very small saltwater set-up from another member. I do not know :cuss: about what is required to move a salty tank. Can somebody please tell me the best process? The tank is running successfully now and I'd like to keep it that way. Thx. :hey:
  6. Nice pics, Flip but you may want to consider downloading a photo resizing software. Faststone has a free one that I use and it works really well.
  7. Well...... I have been wanting to start a salty tank for some time now. Yesterday, my fiancee's uncle gave me a 50 gallon tank, stand and AC70 for free. SCORE!!! :smokey: Looks like I saved a few bucks to spend on other equipment. BTW, I will be leaning on all you saltwater folks for advice in the not too distant future.
  8. Close guys........there are actually 10. :hey:
  9. Here are a couple of shots from my newly established Neolamprologus Multifasciatus tank (10 gallon). Full Tank Parent
  10. Those Rotkeils are cool! Again, great shots my friend!
  11. Call Mitch at Bow Valley. He will give you a reasonable deal if you bring ca$h.
  12. Great shots......as usual.....Ryan. Whatever became of that little Eureka Red? Still got him?
  13. Cichlid Press sells "Malawi Cichlids in Their Natural Habitat IV" for $69.99. They are easy to deal with and provide excellent service for an online dealer. I would order from them again anytime.
  14. For those that have not seen the new banner, firestorm has been nominated as Member of the Month for the month of June for her "positive contributions to all parts of the forum". Way to go, Caressa!
  15. Well......my hatred for washing sand led me to be innovative and I came up with an easy method. I stopped at my local hardware store and picked up one of these. Then I attached my 1/2" drill and Voila! I filled a 5 gallon bucket halfway with sand, clamped my garden hose to the edge of the bucket, let the water run and mixed until the water ran clear. So much simpler than the other "tried and true" methods.
  16. I also run the 300 watt unit on my 90 gallon and it is rock solid. No variation in temperature and been running for 1 year hassle free. Pisces (Calgary) and Big Al's (Edmonton) are 2 sources that I know of locally to get them. Others?
  17. This site is growing so quickly, I can hardly keep up to this part of the forum so... To all of our "newbies" I'd like to say :welcome: to Alberta Aquatica. Enjoy your time and thanks for contributing to an already terrific online community.
  18. Glad you found the problem, Ryan but sad to see the losses in your African tank. That's the poop$. If I can help you out getting things re-established just let me know.
  19. I am completely at a loss. I cannot keep Ancistrus (BN) Plecos alive in my all-male Hap/Peacock tank. I have now lost my third. This time, a 5" wild-caught that leapt out the gap between the glass top and tank frame. When I found him, he was dead and had no eyes. Their prior victim was a 4" Albino BN. They also picked out his eyes before finishing him off. What the ???? Has anyone else had similar problems with their cichlids? I have no idea what I can keep with these guys as a clean-up crew.
  20. Just a friendly reminder to please keep your sales banter to a minimum.
  21. Give Mitch at Bow Valley aquariums a call. He can either build the aquarium to suit your needs or hook you up with the glass that you are looking for.
  22. Hi Jerry, Maybe move this to the "Ask a Moderator" forum and see if our technical guru can answer. OR PM Tanker for assistance. He is extremely busy and works away alot but he will likely offer his assistance when he is around.
  23. No worries, Dalray! I am watching your threads carefully because I will soon be plumbing my sump with 2" drain and 1.5" return as well. Only difference is that I have 1 center overflow. I am hoping the Durso will work for me but it may interfere with my return line.
