I kept them many years ago.They grew over a foot and only ate live fish.I found they did better in a group than alone. I suggest a larger aquarium, atleast 100 gallons..

how the peacock bass doing? any better? Did another huge water change...Eyes dont look any better but not getting worse :thumbs:... 4 of them ate pellets today!!!

Apparently Its ammonia burn......did a 60-70% water change and added salt, no meds.. . I hope this works.

water paramaters have not changed any considerable amount...... feedings have not changed... water changes have stayed consistant .....(60-70 gallons every 5 days) Yes, I have never turned the light off ( bass tank only) in over 2 years but I dont think thats the problem...but Ill consider that as an option HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM??????????????? PLEASE HELP ME?????????????

It also depends on what you have inside the fx5.... if your using a media like "zero-carb","ammonia chips" or "carbon"you will need to change it out every 5-6 weeks. I only use biomax/bio-balls and sponges in all my cannisters, I only partially change or wash the sponges every 3-4 months!!!! :thumbs: a fx5 pushes 925gallons an hour.. so your seventy gallon is being cycled a little more than 13 times an hour........... :smokey: :smokey: :smokey:

IF YOUR GONNA BE PAINTING THREE SIDES, YOU MIGHT AS WELL INSULATE AS WELL.. i HAVE 3 PAINTED AND INSULATED TANKS AND THEY REALLY HOLD IN THE HEAT WELL

Its been a long held undersatnding in the hobby that white gravel is dangerous to fish...possibly cause its been bleached... I have only ever heard of bad experiences with white..(im sure there are exceptions)

YOU MIGHT WANT TO HAVE A FEW NETS ALREADY IN PLACE.. SPECIFICALLY AROUND THE OPENING TO HIS HIDDING SPOT..

yes.. I bought out all the dollarramas on the south side... .twice... TOP LEVEL#1...filter FOAM AND POLY FLOSS #2.. BIOBALLS (2LBS) #3 ..PLASTIC SCRUBBIES #4..50 BUCKS WORTH OF BIOMAX..and a couple handfulls of ceramic rings BOTTOM#5 ..MORE SCRUBBIES -I FOUND IT difficult TO DETERMINE THE RIGHT SIZE AND AMOUNT OF HOLES NEEDED FOR THE FLOW TO BE APPROPRIATE FOR BOTH SIZES OF PUMPS.. If there are to many holes, It wont drip evenly.. If theres not enough holes, the compartments fill up... went through many test trials, to get the perfect flow..

I have used aquagiant sand before without any issues... big als has black sand as well but aquagiants was cheaper..

I bought them as fresh..( i might raise the salinity levels ( but I doubt it)))the species grows in both types ... when raised in fresh water, they dont grow as fast or as big..... They will get huge but so will my parron sharks, arrowanas, redtail cat, marble, cat, tiger shovelnose cat!!!! not to mention all the bass !!!!!! hampala barbs..!!!! and tinfolis!!!
