  1. She is telling me a box is $160 via Purolator. She is doing a dry run to see how many bags can fit in. If 10 bags can fit with 8 cories each, we are looking at $2.00 per fish for shipping. More than 10 bags will be worth it, but less will not be for the cheaper species. Hopefully will know more later today.
  2. She did tell me guppies ship 1 to a bag so sounds like 9 bags to a box? Cories ship 8 to a bag of the same species. She is still getting me a price per box. Says she can only ship when temps do not drop below 0 at night, so we may be looking at April???
  3. I sent off an email asking for details. When I hear back I will update and possibly start a group order if there is plenty of interest to make whatever shippin worth while.
  4. Found these guys on Kijiji. Prices are reasonable, decent selection. I'd jump in on a group order if anyone decides to try them out some time. I am going to contact them and see what shipping cost to Edmonton and what methods they use. http://www.canadianqualityguppies.com/
  5. Congrats, keep us posted and give us first dibs over any store. : )
  6. Love the nice clean look and the small cory pile. What and how many of each species of cory are in there?
  7. So....we going to get some deatails of this awsome trip and perhaps some pics?
  8. I was under the impression that the 75 gallon in question has been running for some time. Perhaps your tap water had an issue to cause the Nitrite and Ammonia readings???? Why is your PH 6.5? Do you do something to lower it. Mine is 8.3 from the tap?
  9. Beautiful, I love those orange/white dudes! So tough, yet so pretty.
  10. Those prices are great. I will have to take a trip myself this weekend. Last time I was there was during pond season and I didn't bother looking at cories. Mr. G--I'd consider buying the albino and panda from you as those are the two species I have right now. Send me a PM if interested.
  11. I'd say three is a bare minimum for any cory but six is even better. Too nice of a little fish to not at least give "him" that. You will have an easier time sexing too if you have others to compare to.
  12. I remember seeing a few of your discovery threads. Looking forward to a surprise score myself some day.
  13. They are quite addicting. I have to admit that I don't need to have every species, but I have a few favorites that I have to have still---Sterbai, reticulated, peppered, maybe=trilineatus, and some Brochis-emeralds(not really a "cory").
  14. I recently purchased my first cories in years. I always kept them in the past in community type setups. This time I decided to do species only tanks. I bought a group of pandas and a mixed group of albino/regular aeneus cories. I am running a 10 gallon for each group. I am hoping to grow them out for a while and some day try breeding(for fun). Is anyone breeding cories right now? If so what species? I am also curious what everyone's opinion is for the best place to pick up stock. BigAl's has a great selection, but I find the prices to be on the high side. I grabbed my guys at PetSmart of all places. They carry 6 different varieties at the locations I went to. I also noticed PetLand had a few species that I did not expect. Prices are OK there if you do the multi-buy deal. The amount of tanks I can run is also a big deal at my house with the wife, however I want more cories. I am considering upgrading the 10's to something larger and adding more species of cories. Say 3 groups in a 33 gallon, etc. How are you guys housing yours?
  15. I made the mistake of asking the guy in this add a question yesterday. Since then I have received 10 emails.(16 hours ago) Only some pertain to the original question. This guy is the most aggressive salesman I have ever seen. I have a feeling I will have to block his address to make this end. In several emails he asked for my contact info.....I can only imagine if I would have released my phone number to this dude. Has anyone else made this grave error??? http://edmonton.kiji...QAdIdZ421443331
  16. Either way he's a cool fish. Did they have more?
  17. I am no expert, but a Syno fan for sure. I originally though it was an oddly marked Eupturas juvie. I stumbled onto Synodontis Ornatipinnis though. Do a search and see what you think. Here is Planet Catfish's page on it. There are better pics out there on goggle though. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=552
  18. Wow, great score. Not a whole lot of things you can't keep in that monster tank. Perhaps you could adopt some Pacus at the zoo!
  19. If you need help with the fishing and rehoming of the fish I could help out. I know several people would would take what I catch and do not want. Seems like it would be fun.
  20. What is it that you are saving them from? Are you moving and trying to take some with you? Without lowering the water level you will never get them all. The seine net is your best bet though. I am sure you can get one wide and deep enough, but it will cost you.
  21. I read this this morning on yahoo. Total BS that anyone thinks they have the right to shake you down like that and then when they realize they made a mistake they still take advantage of an honest good citizen. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/mans-home-invaded-government-search-fish-tanks-092801612.html
  22. I have kept them in the past. They have a channel-cat/bullhead attitude to them. If they can't eat it, they will damage it, if the can't damage it ,they will hide from it. I had several at once and they got along well with each other. They grow fast for the first 10"-11" and then slow right down. Food and low light is the key to seeing them out and about more often.
  23. And justs so you know, importing US indiginous fish species legally is damw near impossible. So in my case I needed a hookup out in Ontario, which I was never able to find and eventually gave up.
  24. I looked into this a couple of years ago as I wanted to keep a tank with species from back home. Stuff way smaller than pike and for the most part non existant in Alberta. I am pretty sure the law says it is unlawful to posses any indiginous species of fish alive(game or not). Aside from that all of the fishing regulations also apply.
