I think you could probably add brine shrimp eggs on a SW tank, and I know copepods grow in sponge and such. I'd like to see if anyone can come up with anything for a freshwater tank.

Also don't quote me on that, it was what I was told.

Did you build your house..... I know how thick concrete is poured, I do it for my dad... nope, this house has been here for a while. are you going to come see the tank when its done? Yeah I'll come check it out, ask your dad when the house was built that'll tell ya lots. a long time ago... It can hold the tank no problem. Code states that houses built in the 60's have cement at roughly 700 psi which was code. I'd put a piece of plywood under the feet if I were you.

Boydo brings up a good thought about the concrete....where is the stand sitting? I've seen what a large tank can do to "minimum" grade concrete.

Ordering live fish on aquabid???
Parachromis1 replied to firestorm's topic in General Aquaria Discussion
I've ordered fish quite a few times with both UPS and Fed Ex and I didn't have that many DOAs. -
Denitrifying bacteria colonize in the filter much like they do in ceramics in a canister or HOB filter. This helps dim the nitrogen cycle and make it safe for fish. I do more waterchanges on tanks with my bio sponges because the water can get a little murky with no power filter to help polish the water.

We don't use chlorine here....And I don't think it'll make any change to our water. -
check out this site, http://www.flexpvc.com/ for adapters. I know home depot has some adapters, but don't think that will make a difference if the pump is only 3/4". Those are what I used, my pump is 1 1/4" and I reduced it to 3/4".

It has to do with the change in seasons! All the american cichlids are breeding

Well I haven't done one in a week lol....I should do one every 4 or 5 days now. And yes it does. Its a 0ceanic Reef Ready. The tower is pretty tall too, I've got 10 gallons of bioballs in the bottom drawer, 4 square feet of Japanese mat in the second, and in the top I have more mat, thick coarse foam and poly wool.

Since the photos are so small, here's my photobucket. my photobucket

Did a little bit of work to my sump over the last little while. I was having problems with the tubing as well as waste building up in the overflows due to lack of waterflow through the bioballs in the overflows. I took all the biolballs out and put them in my bio tower. I also replumbed the whole setup. I used a a "T" and tee'd off my pump to both outputs, and now I also have no deadspots in my tank! It works like a charm. The bendable tubing I was using before was making me angry so I scrapped it and used 1" PVC for my drains. I also plumbed my pump and put a union valve on it incase I want to take it out to clean it. The return plumbing is 3/4" And of course the tank Next up is painting the back of this sucker.

do you have pictures of the trim? some older hagen tanks have floating glass bottoms
-
I wanna play in it.
-
Do 2 1" drains and 2 3/4" returns. Remember head height of pump is reduced by a foot for every 90 degree angle.
-
are you talking about a drain to the sump? bra id just stick with something simple. less complication equals less problems
