  1. Which is better, buying a plastic pond with a preset size and dimentions or getting the water-proof tarp? I would say that it depends what you are going for. If you want a small pond then a preformed pond might be the best way to go if you don't mind having a round or oval pond. If you want a large pond, over 200g then a pond liner and wood frame is the best way to go. As for a pond liner you can get that at any garden center or LFS that sells pond supplies. And if you go with liner then do not get the cheaper vinyl. It is not as durable as rubber.
  2. Only problem with lexan is that it is relatively soft and scratches very easily. It is incredibly strong though.
  3. Thank you for the welcome. I am certainly not here just to sell the fish. I have had a couple of ponds (nothing big - in the 600-1000 gallon range) for just about 10 years now (third pond on the way next spring). I just don't have the space for a tank large enough to overwinter the koi and heating a fish pond in our climate is not really practical for ponds less than 5 feet deep. I have a friend that has a large 80'x120' pond but this year something happened and the water level dropped to just 3 feet so he is facing the prospect of losing his fish as well.
  4. Hello to all. I wish I had found this forum sooner! I have 6 large koi (14 inches and up) that I need to sell (they are too big for me to overwinter). What would be a fair price for them and if I can't sell them before the pond freezes would there be any takers?
