  2. Hey guys, Been a while since I've been on here. A guys on MFK wanted to see a video of my dog and Beani glass banging together haha, so I decided I'd upload it on here as well. Been super busy the last couple weeks so the water level is a little low...doing a water change tonight. The Beani has no care what so ever when I go around the tank, but for some reason ever since he was about 2 inches, him and the pitty have had some mad beef with one another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCjitIIM-e0
  3. Thanks bro Couldn't have done it without you haha. Literally

  5. I posted some pictures of this guy a while ago when he had bloat and haven't put up any pictures since so I figured I should probably get on that. So the story is I got him February of 2010 with 2 other Beani and 5 umbees all at 1/4 inch. They were all fine till about 3 inches and I found homes for a couple umbees and 1 Beani. Kept 2 umbees and 2 Beani in hopes of pairing them off, which is what happened. Shortly after, the Beani killed my male umbee (they were about 4 inches) and took a liking to the female umbee. He then started going after the female Beani, so I gave her away. I was left with a Beani/umbee pair which was awesome. Sadly, I came home one day to find a dead umbee and was left with this brute. I then took a liking to fancy plecos and knew they would be fine with their tough armour. So I decided to add a Gold, royal, three beacon, galaxy and common Pleco. Once Christmas rolled around I wanted some more activity in the tank and went to big Al's and decided on a large group of bala sharks. I bought 12 of them thinking they'd be fast enough to keep away from him...WRONG!!! He killed them all and got bloat from them. In a panic I got help from AA and MFK members to help save him. With a huge help from RD. I saved him from bloat and he has been growing with his Pleco buddy's ever since. I have added a small RTC in the mix for the time being until it gets bigger. Here are some pics of him.
  6. Harold (Fairdeal) just dropped off my new pleco's today! pretty stoked on them. way to sick. heres some pictures of the new ones, plus my goldy and three beacon Galaxy Royal Goldy Three Beacon will get better pictures and update once they are all settled in to their new home. THANKS AGAIN HAROLD!!
  7. yeah thanks dude, im stoked
  8. just thought i'd post an update, and a huge thank you to RD and the others who helped save my beani (jvision, JORG, PistolPete). i never in a hundred years would have thought Epsom Salts would be the cure all for bloat. it took around 2 weeks of treatment, adding a tablespoon of epsom salts to every 5 gallons of water in my tank, then adjusted the amount added to the amount of water i took out per water change, plus soaked his food in an epsom salt solution (which i still do every couple days just as a precaution) he is now back to his old self minus his aggression to his tankmates, which is an added bonus. but anyways, here is an updated video on him. sorry for the skinny frame, didnt realize if you hold the iphone on its side and record that way, you can flip it in youtube to be fullscreen. will definately do that for later video updates. enjoy all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3xXSfKHgBM&context=C38db783ADOEgsToPDskLSk7xa8vBx9vLdAY9Jn-Pk
  9. hes starting to do way better now. not eating WHOLE LOT, but he is eating a few pellets at a time!
  10. My Beani is my prized fish <3 I also have a small Midas, 3 convicts, a goldy Pleco, 3 beacon Pleco, and a common Pleco in the tank with him
  11. So far so good. He seems to be getting his attitude back. Just did a 50% water change at 6:00 pm and add more Epsom salts. Now gonna wait 48 hours and do another water change, then try to feed him some NLS soaked in Epsom salts
  12. RD. was the one that told me to try the Epsom salts. He didn't mention anything about putting it down his throat though?? Maybe I'll ask about that and give it a try as well.
  13. tomorrow the general cure treatment will be finished and i will be doing a 45-50 gallon water change. i added a holw bunch of epsom salts this morning to the tank. its a 150 gallon, so i put in 1 tbsp of salt per every 5 gallons. i will be adding more salt according to the water change i do tomorrow night and will continue to try the epsom salt treatment for the next few days. if nothing changes i will be giving the clout treatment a shot. thanks alot for your help guys
  14. just read up on it. sounds like it treats the same this as the medication im using right now. but i wouldnt mind trying it out if this stuff doesnt work. it says i have to put the fish in a seperate tank. is that a must? or can i just treat it in my main tank? because i dont have a secondary tank to throw him in
  15. Where do they sell it? Petsmart? Pj's?
  16. He isn't eating at all right now. The only thing I've seen him eat in the last 3 days is 3 or 4 pieces of mysis shrimp. He looks interested in pellets and shrimp, but just keeps on swimming. He is super active and all. I don't know what to think
  17. here is a video of him i just posted on youtube, pic will be a few more minutes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWvKzfgbcO8&feature=g-upl&context=G2cac185AUAAAAAAAAAA
  18. so on boxing day, i decided to buy a few bala sharks to use as dithers in my beani tank. apparently beanis are faster than bala's cause he ate more than half of them. ever since his shark binge, which was this past wednesday/thursday, he hasnt eaten any pellets and only eaten a couple pieces of mysis shrimp and is pooping out white stringy stuff. now i know beani's are super touchy and super susceptible to disease's and everything, but i just cant figure out what i should be treating for, if anything? from what i first thought, i figured it was a bacterial parasite from eating the dirty big al's bala sharks, so i treated with API GENERAL CURE. he has been pooping out more of the white stuff. so now my question is, is that good or bad? i would assume it would be good because hes expelling it? but could that also mean its getting worse??? i also posted on MFK and they seem to think its bloat. I've know from the beginning when i got the beani at .75in that they are known to get bloat more than anything, but i really dont think thats what it is. his stomach isnt puffed out, he isnt losing color, and he is swimming perfectly fine. Now, the other thing im thinking it could be is last weekend i built a new stand for my tank and had to drain it to move it onto the new stand. i had him sitting in a tupperware for about 45 minutes while i got everything all set back up and floated him for a bit then put him in the tank. he was all good as far as i could tell until he ate the bala's. but it could be just a coincidence that he got sick at the same time from being stressed from the move??? would it be safe to treat for bloat on wednesday or thursday when my GENERAL CURE treatment is finished? or should i just wait it out?? will post pics of him in a few minutes
  19. I have a lot of driftwood in my tank, all bought from aqua giant. Not sure the exact type, Malaysian maybe? The tannins in the wood turn my tank yellow after about a week after water changes. I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes the tannins to completely leetch from the wood? I've had it all in my tank for about a year now
  20. downloading the app doesnt work for me either
