  1. i think the only reasonable sugestion is to host an aa cabin party and we can have a good look at the sand :drunk:
  2. sil silica, also about 8 bucks a 50lb bag. and they have about a dozen different grits to choose from
  3. sic tank dude, but how are you going to get that monster in the house and down the stairs?
  4. did you check sil-silica? just off 17st & yellowhead
  5. thiers nothing economical or efficient about running three filters when one will do. thats three times the power, maintenance and problems/hassle. you are right about canisters and w/d's not being in the same catagory, one is WAY better than the other, but BOTH are better than hob's (imo)
  6. i can sugest the obvious, a dehumidafier. but they are really pricey, you can get creative and try an exhaust fan and duct it outside but with winter comming that could be a problem (ice buildup) or you might have to simply cover all your tanks
  7. Cheapest and most efficient is a DIY w/d. absolutely, and thier SO easy to make
  8. thats nothing. when is the last time you heard of tank going through the floor anyways?
  9. CRAZY TALK! pm'd you my #, gimme a call and i'll show you how easy it is to set up
  10. check the archives about coralife lights. it probably is the ballast, and if it is, it CANT be replaced
  11. WOW! that is CHEAP! thier is like 5 tenecor dealers in edmonton, but thier NOT cheap
  12. the only silly question is a question not asked, or "what kind of fish should i put in my tank?" just boil them, they should be fine
  13. if you need a jumpstart i can give you some sponge out of my trickle, i clean them every other month and it takes FOREVER! squeeze it out in your tank and instant establishment
  14. prime IS the best bar none. i used to use aqua plus but after reading a thread on mfk, it dosent even de-clorinate like they clam, it did'nt do ALOT of things they claimed. that stuff was'nt fit to flush down my toilet!
  15. houses are so overbuilt (especiall the older ones) i would not hesitate for a second to put those tanks on a main floor. i've seen a 450 gal on a second floor of a 40 year old house with no problems. assuming you have 2x8 or 2x10 joists how much force do you think it woul take to break just one of them standing on end? you would be AMAZED how strong they are. and your rack will be spanning MANY joists
