  1. rtv can be found at gregg's distributors in the west end and its only about 6 bucks a tube.
  2. a substandard coralife product? IM SHOCKED! man, can they make ANYTHING right? you can find digital pens that cover everything.ph pens are only about 60.00. thiers one digital meter that does temp, ph, tds, and a couple others all in one unit and its only about 250.00 from your local hydroponics store. call mario at hydrolite, he's on fortroad directly across from the sands hotel. 477-7860 or even better go visit him, youd be suprised, you can get all kinds of air pumps, water pumps, and full spectrum lighting. great place for unusual and hard to find plumbing and airline parts to.
  3. if its africans your after, golds hands down. best selection and prices. riverfront is a close second. riverfronts the best place to buy a BIG tank, ALMOST downright cheap
  4. wa-wa-we-wa!! 8 hundie more just for front only starfire? three grand, just for the tank?. like i said, wa-wa-we-wa!!
  5. bosshog your a genius! target practice, never though of that one. my fx5 is good, turns lots of water and for fluval, pretty reliable (so far). heard lots of good bout eheim's, but like the fx5, a little pricey. me personally would buy an overflow box and a pump and make my own trickle filter for half the cost. 10 times better and easier to maintain than ANY canister, but thats just me.
  6. i use a 950gph mag drive. its not self priming but it gets the job done, fast!
  7. i use rally glass, thier always fast and cheap. 476-1978. not sure if they do holes though, those are usually a little pricey.
  8. in my overflows i use that newer filter media, the 1 inch thick black plastic brillo pad'ish stuff. its not cheap at 15.00 a square foot but it sure works well. also works good under noisy air pumps
  9. even express post(2-3 days) isnt to bad, 2x mag drives (1x 1200 gph & 1x 1800 gph) shipped from florida was 40.00. and those things are heavy. got emm both for 250 inc s&h, about the cost of ONE localy. i like to support the lfs but on expensive items like the pumps, i head for the boarder! :poo:
  10. shop around a bit, shipping out of the states really varys. i just bought 2 mag drive pumps outa the us and one place wanted 80.00 for s&h while someone in the same state did it for less than half that. alot of online retailers (especially ebay) the retailers jack the shipping to pad thier profits. i just tell the retailers i want a copy of the shipping invoice so i can see the EXACT shipping cost, that usually keeps them honest. if they wont sent ya a copy, you know thier rippin ya off! :guns:
  11. thats the one.. problem is that guy wont ship to canada and the one i REALLY want is the 240 model(big one). thanx muchly for the heads-up though, much apreciated anyways  if anyone finds that needle in the haystack, im allways lookin
  12. who was your builder and ju$t how many arm$ and leg$ did it co$t ya? needless to say i think we'er ALL a little green with envy! congrats!
  13. just woundering if any one has any coralife sea storms lying around collecting dust? they apperently stoped making them, although i cant confirm that cause coralife wont return my e-mails (something to do with previous e-mails regarding 4 foot lights that prematurely blew-out, im sure). they were GREAT little sand filters and need a few more but went the way of the dinasaur on e-bay. does anyone have any they are willing to part with? thnx
  14. Acrylic tanks vary in price...depending on size.... check this out, click the tank section and then rectangular tanks....for extra large tanks click ultra tanks; http://www.iadempet.com/dealers.htm phone: 780 487-0493 add: 14020-141St, Edmonton,Alta those are downright reasonable prices, gonna have to check em out. i called tenacor just for fun. financing a tank is one thing but with them you would have to mortgage one!
  15. as for water conditions, if they can live in lake wabamun year round your toilet bowl would be the ritz carilton for them! :hey:
  16. i heard you can bleach regular driftwood. not sure how but if its true aquagiant on the westend has some huge pieces. and great prices on driftwood to. but you have to wash the heck out of them as they are absolutely filthy.
  17. disparge the cas? gimme a break! i NEVER DID, AND NEVER WOULD, talk ill about ANY aquarium organization OR its volinteers, EVER! all i said was i thought it to be a rather fruitless auction, THATS ALL!! geezz!!!.... -01-
  18. i completley agree a huge pat on the back is deserved for all the volinteers that make ALL of these auctions possible. what i was refering to was the lack of livestock on the whole(and other quality items). i keep africans myself and thier were no more than a half dozen lots of those, and not much of anything else. half of the 'treasures' at that auction could of been had brand new in the stores for almost the same price. i absolutely would love for you to come to an ace auction, then, and only then you would understand my dissapointment. anyways the ace members i talk to say the cas auction is a lot of the same over and over, not much of anything and quite pricey, i now agree.. by all means i would love for any and all cas members to come up and check out the next ace auction, i guarantee it is worth the drive, time and gas to get here. but i should warn you, bring a truck cause you will be taking lots of good 'treasures' home and they wont cost you much. with that said, hats of to the volinteers and everyone that helped make that event possible, thank you!
  19. maybe im just used to the abundance of fish and the excelent prices at the ace auctions, as the calgary auction had neither. hardly any fish and what was worth bidding on went for almost new prices. if you think that auction was good, check out the next ace auction. better yet,DONT! (keep our prices reasonable) ended up spending all my loot in the stores. that was my first, and last cas auction.
  20. been going there anually for years now and it never gets old. something for eveyone there. i especially love the roof to floor salty tank right as soon as you walk in. AWESOME!!!
  21. 1/4 inch thick polished edges for a 130 cost me about 60 bones. thier quick cheap and friendly, give em a call. rally @476-1978
  22. unbelievable!! what is it sitting on? i'd like to see more pics on the filter and how it all works. also how it 'fits' and 'sits' in the the room. WOW!!!
  23. great auction! definitly a buyers market with those prices. i feel especially bad for the guy that sold me the 5x10 gal breeder setup. thier has to be over a grand worth of stuff there, for 60 bucks! unbelievable!! wish i could of met a few more of yas though. the ones i did meet were verry cool people and it was great to talk to you. 3 more members are comming over to pick up thier stand frames this week(no charge)and i cant wait to talk to them to. thanks to all the auction volunteers for making this event possible, without you, thier would be no auction.
  24. thats a lotta loot for a six and a half gallon tank. pretty damn cool though!!
  25. yea those center sponges (the blue and white ones) i cut myself from bulk. the ones im referring to are the outside sponges. after a year or so they get ratty and to hard to clean.
