  1. Thank you all for your advice! I separated them into their own tank as you recommended... and less than 3 weeks later...(photo will not load here...it did in the breeding forum) Thanks to SamChicklets here is the link to a short vid of the mom & fry. March 29/08 - 5 weeks later and the fry are 10x bigger than the movie - fast growing little buggers once they hit a month old!
  2. Thanks to Sam Chicklets, I think a short movie will run now. It is very hard to tell, with lots more under that cave ledge on the left, but I think there are around 250-300+ fry. Edit Feb 27: They all came up into the top of the tank last night for a swim with Mom...more like 400 - 500 of the little buggers...seem to be growing faster now that my brine shrimp in-tank production set up is running strong the past 3 days. March 29 - After some munching by Mom & Dad the remaining 50 or so are 10x bigger than the movie and growing super fast!
  3. You've probably seen my pics I posted of the male and female Golden Saum in the S/A Cichlid area when I was trying to figure out exactly what they were. Per the advice on this forum I had moved these two S/A cichlids inot their own tank some time ago. Not alot of action evident then two days ago the female started taking runs at fish she saw in an adjacent tank. The male was just staying off to himself. Today I was doing my afternoon maintanence on my tanks...looked down and saw...
  4. Whether those organizations wanted to let this forum's member know was not my point...my suggestion is events our members think would benefit other members could be posted here...regardless of whether any particular organization thinks we are important enough...or whether they are well organized enough to even think of publicizing their events. As an example, I see BC members here, they could mention local auctions/events on this forum, though their local orgs would never think we would be interested...our forum members travelling through the BC area would thus be better aware of opportunities... Just an idea. I too missed the calendar button in the upper right...when I looked I thought it was just for birthday listings.
  5. Incredible! hmmm, do you think if I tried to add a tank like this and my wife actually left me that I could fit the heater assembly and sump in her closet.... :bang1:
  6. Just a thought, a thread on Aquatic related Events could allow the posting of a number of things; For example: - Association auctions Local/Alberta/Western Canada ??? - How to programs at local providers - ie - Outdoor pond sessions at fish stores etc
  7. If you are catching them at night I understand using red light in otherwise total darkness works best...comments from others?

    Hi

I came in with 118 gallons in 4 tanks...just passing the 400 gallon mark shortly ...and yes , I took the advice and told my wife I found them in the garage....now I have to build her a dang garage this spring.... :smokey:

    Hi...

:welcome: You've come to the right location, I've been here less than a month and have had nothing but helpful advice and suggestions on what, where and when to upgrade my aquariums. Enjoy!
  15. I was given both of these, sold to me as "Green Terrors" roughly 2 months ago when they were both 1" approx. Growing rapidly I am about to move them into their own tank. I think from the descriptions on the net of the females being smaller, with rounded fins and body and the males having the top fin reaching the tail in a more pointed form that I have a male (approaching 6") and a female (31/2" - 4 inches). I'll try to attach 3 pics, a 2 shot, then 1 of the larger (male?) and 1 of the smaller (female?) I'd appreciate your opinions on whether I have a male and female here or just 1 dominant and sub-dominant male. UPDATE Identified here and on the Cichlid Forum as 'Aequidens' sp. "Goldsaum" Their profile page is http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=502 2008March29 - Fry for sale to forum members - posted in Livestock section.
  16. I'd be concerned that if the paint did not adhere properly then the silicone would just come off in places with the paint. Perhaps the paint supplier has a contact # you could call to ask what to do next to cure the painit properly? Looks like a great tank in any event, can not wait to see the finished product. Hal
