    DIY Co2

To get the most bang for your yeast buck, mix your batch up with the water at body temp. Then sink the whole unit under water - you will find - where'd the cheese go.
  2. 16 bulbs {@ 39 w/bulb} * 10 hours/day * $0.11 Kwh = 68 cents / day $ 19.22 / month
  3. I will guess your aquarium is about 180 G ? With four bulbs it would be under 1 watt per gallon. With the right plants - given enough time, it will fill up with growth No, its not. 16 bulbs @ 39W/bulb is approaching high light on that tank. As you mentioned, if your just looking to give your eels some nice digs, Four bulbs would do it. With Eight bulbs [as J mentioned {with CO2 and salts}] you could grow most of the plants out there.
  4. Wow - thats close. (, , , if not correct) The cross-venulation is bang on. The young Ludwiga leaves are showing rounded tips and mine are all subulate/lanceolate from the get go. Also the ludwiga stems seem quick to branch @ the nodes; whereas mine will not This the most demanding plant I have ever encountered. Painfully slow growing.( a non-ludwigian characteristic ) Any luck with this stuff FC♀ ? Does anyone have Ammannia senegalensis, Ludwigia inclinata, or Golden nesea ? I will mail you some for comparison.
  5. Almost a year with this plant now - still do not know what it is.
  6. I see those on my common pl*co from time to time. They seem to heal soooo , , I would not panic. There is no heater in my tank and noting to sharp - I really do not know where it comes from. All the above advice is good.better.
  7. Silicone will eventually swell and apply pressure on the bulkhead. Vaseline is a petroleum product and as such will eventually destroy authentic rubber. Thats why KY is the companion for 'rubbers'
  8. I use have KCI, I find it dissolves readily in water. Your KNO3 is about %40 potasium. The levels (of K) in your KH2PO4 are negligible due to the smaller dose. That being said hygro is a reported potasium hog post #211 This post also specificly mentions the danger assoc. w/ sulphates Without knowledge of your set-up specificly I would suspect lack of light.
  9. This is our girl, Tibby She will be four in January. It always boils down to two things: the prospect of food The prospect of love
  10. The dark stuff is ap.com substrate. The lighter stuff is Shultz's pond soil. Same product different colour. The substrate in the photo is more than two years old. It came with a whack o' non-P tabs complete w/ applicator. $80.00 delivered. It is a pleasing colour and light enough for shrimps to scour.
  11. Is there water in there? :w00t: Algae? Looks like you set that up yesterday! Thats a rare beauty you got there!! My advice is lacking - in that you are without stem/bunch plants As you know, they feed more heavily off the water column. I feed my tank what it will consume in a day. I am having second thoughts @ this point. :boxed: You are root feeding what else can I guy do? Looks like you know exactly what that tank is after. Is that a 36" ? I am still curious , , , How much light overhead?
  12. Regardless of the type of algae involved - the response is always two part Yah, I 've had it - yah, its nasty. How much light you pouring on that? There is an upper limit to light intensity; regardless of C02 concentration. Not sure if you are there or not. Plants will not grow without N If it were I Increase Nitrate Increase CO2 If all else fails - reduce light intensity (not photoperiod) Do you have a test kit? Ideally: add as much N in the morning as you can -whilst still getting a zero reading the next morn.
  13. Hey, thanks for the warm fuzzy! :& This is the same shot with more light ( and less colour ) If you click on the tiny picture: it then takes you to the album. :hey: Now you may notice if you look very closely - just under the floating plants - to the left of the corner seem, you will see a face. I do not think that is a ghost, and I am quite certain it is not Jebus. Still can't see it? When you get to photobucket's page click again on the picture - it gets bigger. Still can't see it? Press and hold Ctrl ( bottom left key ) now press + + (top right key) @ this point everyone will now finally know what REALLY happened to Kirk Lee Hammett He is in my 30 gallon planted; with his face pressed against the glass. & it serves him right.

    Hello

:welcome: Always good to see another 'mad hatter' We are few and far between down here. Get some sunshine on those puddles - I will bring on the free plants. I have just undertaken a major gleaning; but give me a week or two , , , I will unload a pile on ya.
  15. What could be better than that !? I have never puchased any of the products you mentioned - but do regard , , , I will agree will avianaquatics. Any time you mix substrates of dissimilar shape - the fatter will rise to the top That is to say; any time you mix sand with pebbles the sand eventualy disappears and the pebbles protrude.

That's not Mr. Barr, he was banned from APC back in 2006. Yes, you are correct, my pilpul failed: Mr. Barr was contributed on the topic here in post # 7 ,,, not as such Although, one of your member privileges allows you to view a members past topics and posts; by clicking on a members name. Hang in there. Its like feeding the neighbours kids - once they get an appetite , , , :drunk::boxed: With seven WPG I am adding about 100ppm of N a week Keep in mind this inherently adds about 60 ppm /week of K

I have been implementing this for almost a year. I have added absolutely nothing but N. Absolutely no K no micro no nothing. ( my soil leaves a steady residual P reading @ 1 ppm) I have never seen a deficiency. Growth is unbelievable APRIL 26th Same perspective MAY 27th
  19. I think with a little Nitrate you will have a fullcourse meal N is the salt I spend the most on - $10.00 / pound adds up quick !
  20. , , , as per wifes instructions, :& I built a leather gasket which sits tight to the rim.

MMMm, , , I am using GRANTS stump remover %98 KNO3 after pestling the prills a loosely packed teaspoon (5ml) was as light as 6.4 grams - I could not pack, scrape, repack and cut more than 8.4 grams in. , , , Although I had no trouble packing 1.27 grams into a 1/8 measure Heres the beauty of it. Because the is no strict recipe in the ratio's; regardless of accuracy, one may increase the quantity of the stock solution dosed. I may mix up a batch of juice and increase the breakfast portion incrementally ultimately finding the dose that works for my tank. By doing the same, You too, will find just how much poison your tank is looking for. Perhaps your mixing with a digital scale - I may be using the scoop that came with my last bin of coffee. Either way :w00t:
  22. Google search 'black ghostknife' the first site up is Wikki and the first thing it tells you is = just that

In a nutshell, 50% WC per week Zero math, Zero tests. If you can source Nitrate and count to ten its very attainable. You could get away without a scale btw @ the same time you are not punished for lack of attention; you just see that it is capable of more and it inspires one to apply oneself more diligently Assumming you using a rich bed and are highly driving the stems already - the work is done. Meeting the pre-requisits honestly would be the largest stumbling block for most. Its simplicity is laughable. :bang1:
