  1. Thanks for suggestions. I plan on making a journal if you want to follow. As for fish i still can't decide.
  2. I saw this online several years ago but it was too expensive to consider ordering. The other day browsing Kijiji some guy had it up for 1/4 the price. He bought it because it was cool looking but ended up killing all the fish and not caring about the hobby. So I had to get it. It is 26*26*4.3 at 6.6 gallons and obviously for wall mounting. It has an under gravel water pump that spits out water above on a sponge/bio ball filter tray. It has a heater under the gravel grate as well as an air pump. Everything is connected to a digital key pad on the side. I have to admit it seems a little on the cheap side, but all in all something worth checking out. I'm going to put it on the wall in my room. And build a better frame around it out of crown molding or something. As for what to put in it. Definitely some low maintenance tall plants like val and hygro at the sides. Then a couple crypts as we move closer to the middle. I don't know. Something to think about. As for fish i thought a school of glass catfish (4 or so) would look cool. But went to big als and they were a bit bigger then i remembered. I don't want to do the endler thing, done that. Nor the beta, done that. Thought maybe a killi couple. Blue ram couple for my first cichlids. I know i don't want a small schooling fish for this one. Any ideas???
  3. Its HC up front. I had the unit custom made by aquarium illusions a couple years ago. They did a wicked good job on the stand. Thanks.
  4. Its finally stable and looks good. It has taken trial and error with CO2, lighting, and dosing and now it seems to be working. Fought a brown algae bloom for 6 weeks but it cleared up. I need to learn how to work the camera to make it look better before i post anymore pictures.
  5. Hi ATM, Custom made by a carpenter out of aquarium illusions.
  6. New and improved plumbing. And my favorite shot with the moon light. I've added a school of 30 emerald eye rasbora and 4 ottocinclus. And now Tiger val behind the rocks. Pictures will come when everything is clean and growing perfect.
  7. My buddy has a mantis, feeds it frozen mysis, frozen fish from marine stores, hermit crabs for cheap, and other crabs.
  8. This message is for vallisneria only as i changed a previous post. No not for food, for pets. And LOL, i'm an idiot. I went to T&T asian market, and got baffled looks from everyone. Lots of pointing to frozen shrimp varieties. I have now found the right T&T
  9. Daphnia for food. The shrimp as pets. Thanks Jason. I didn't expect T&T to have them. Also you make it sound easy. Do you have a light over the pail. Inside or outside. How often do you change the water. Is it easy????
  10. Does anyone in Alberta have any pigmy sized shrimp. Not cherry, green, crystal or bumblebee. I'm looking for a smaller shrimp variety that is not a vibrant color, less then an inch in length. Also does anyone know an adequate way to raise daphnia. I don't want to collect them from ponds because i don't want to introduce foreign stuff to my tank. Thanks guys
  11. Its up and going. I'll throw some pics of the plumbing system in my journal. [/url]
  12. Beauty tank man. I don't like big fish, but this set up moved me. Keep it up.
  13. Hi Erin. I didn't use seeds. Just bought a small HC pot, pulled it into parts and spread it out. Really quite easy.
  14. Yup, looks good, nice and lush. How is the algae in it?
  15. No dealers in Canada. There was one last year in Langdon BC and it was just some kid. I got a 300 bucks worth of ada soil and sand. Then ordered a tank setup and everything but his little company caved and i didn't get my shipment. It was wayyyyyyy too expensive to get that sent up from the states but unfortunately it may be the only way to go now. G luck
  16. if you order green fire tetras let me know where you get them, they are the best green tetras and school perfectly. i want a school of 30 in the next two months or so
  17. Hey, the only Canadian supplier was in langley BC and he was a kid and the company went under from what i know. I bought enough for a 50 gallon and it cost me 300 bucks. Now you can only get it from California and a place in Texas i believe.
  18. Hi guys. I got it done by illusions many many months ago. You can see it in my journal.
  19. Its taken 3 months to get this way but it worked. Its immersed grown HC.
  20. So everything has grown in and it looks good. I'm going away for a month or so and am planning on leaving it immersed until then.
  21. LOL i hear electric greens are the best, i want dibs.
  22. geez jerr. thats no good. That is quite the shrimp farm too. Was it the green or the cherry tank.
  23. I'd go with 3 male endlers. They are great looking fish, and very small.
