  1. Thank you very much for the help! Sheldon
  2. The fish is a Placidochromis phenochilus. I gave the tank a dose of melafix yesterday, the fish has been in a QT tank since i posted this but it has been slowly getting skinnier for a while now. It still acts completely normal in every aspect, and has no curvature of the spine. If it were wasting disease wouldn't there be sores or heavy breathing?
  3. I've been trying to research "skinny disease". Apparently quite common for loaches, anyone heard of it happening to African cichlids? I've put the fish in a QT tank, and I'm gonna get some meds tomorrow.
  4. I've got a cichlid that is still acting normal, eating normal but is getting very skinny. It's stomach is sunken in and it's bones are starting to protrude. All the other fish in the tank do not look like this one. What do you think it is and what do I treat it with?
  5. Eheim is a way better filter quality wise. And 160gph vs 110gph.
  6. Very Good advice RD!! I also feed mine strictly NLS.
  7. Check out Cyphos.com I believe fairdeal has some mpimbwe for sale.

  10. If the canopy is wood, you could screw the light fixture to the canopy with spacers for ventilation(for the heat)
  11. I didn't see the dimensions anywhere, what are they? I am so Jealous!! very nice work.
  12. I want to tumble some eggs in water with some antifungal in it. I don't have any experience with antifungals, and from what I've read methylene blue is used alot of the time for this application. I'll check pisces tomorrow I guess, thanks for the replies.
  13. where can I get some of this in Calgary, or should I be shopping online for this?
  14. I believe source aquatics is partnered with Bow Valley Aquariums
  15. Some good info in there!!! and funny!
  16. They'll grow 4-6" in the first year then slow down to 1-2" per year the next couple years. They don't eat plants but if they don't like where they are they'll dig them up.
  17. Are you useing a lubricant?
  18. I got some of these about a month ago. In the wild they find a large fish that likes to forage, and they follow this fish around and scavenge whatever food they can find. Anyways, I love watching these guys follow me around when I vacuum the sand or do any redecorating. Just find it pretty cool how they just naturally scavenge for food even when they get fed every day! Sheldon
  19. Can you tell us a little more about your water paramaters? What is your Water changing schedule and what additives do you use with water change? Were the fish acting strange or look sick before they died?
  20. Wait till night time.... 15 min after lights out, then catch fish. Just use a small flashlight to see. Works great.
  21. I have no idea what they are actually called. I've seen stuff like this before but never anywhere near this size!!!
  22. I took the kids to Sheep falls two weeks ago for a weiner roast, and we found this cool tree along the way and had to take a picture!!!
  23. Maybe join Trophs.com and post your question there, you would get alot of good advice from them. Watch for White stringy poo and or bloating, probably bloat.
  24. Sounds all good except for the fronts.... most people will suggest that you have a 6' tank for them in 1 year from now and at least a 75 gal until then. 30 gal is way too small for your fronts already. As far as finding the rest of those fish, Golds has half of your list and you could check "Fairdeal's" fish list as he has some of those as well. Good luck and Welcome to AA :welcome:
