I am pretty sure you are paying mainly for shipping. If they were bred in Canada the cost would be much less. I got a pair at Gold's for $250.

It's like someone on Kijiji taking free pet rabbits to feed a large snake. You just tell them you have someone at home who'll hug it to death. Cruel and heartless, I know, but the owner feels good about themselves. Just an attempt at humour. No, I don't own a large snake.

I have twice had success with Melafix. It's one of the few treatments safe for use on stingrays. I wouldn't hesitate to use it. If you don't have rays feel free to use whatever you choose. My final thought is: If it is effective at treating a fish that is super sensitive to most commercial medications then how toxic can it be? Check water parameters before you treat and follow the directions on the label.

That is an impressive tank....the fish though, not as impressive. It will get better as the tank matures.

He looks awesome in there. Seems very happy. It worked out well for both of us. My tanks way more peaceful now and I'm glad he found a good home.

I have 12 in a 240 gallon, with a ray , arowana, sunshine plecos and green phantom plecos. Oldest one I've had since 2003 he was 2" then and is 8" now. They are definitely better in groups. I tried plants but mine chewed them. Not voraciously but they did put holes in my anubias which eventually got uprooted by my arowana. I feed mine nls pellets but they will come up and grab the floating hikari sticks from the arowana once in a while.

I have a 75 gallon sump and an ultima 2 running both tanks with an auto water change and UPS back-up (Which worked like a charm today, when the power went out). As for the green phantoms they will be getting moved since the rays killed the smallest one over the holidays. I was surprised since they've been together for over a year with no issues. Oh well just another growing pain when you have big fish.

The good news is the survivors are male and female. Personally the rarity of the fish doesn't mean much. I have had the arowana for 3 years so he is more of a pet than a fish. I came close to getting rid of him at one point, due to his aggressive behavior, but he is really irreplaceable. Since all I've seen the snakeheads do is eat and hide from the aro I haven't formed an attachment. I like the blue color and the placid nature but I haven't been privileged to see their natural behavior.

Arowana killed one of them and the other 2 are recovering in the hospital tank. When, and if they recover, they will be for sale. XB has been on a rampage since I got rid of his girlfriend;the giant gourami.

I am at work so pics will have to wait until I get home. They are difficult to photograph because they hide at the back of the tank due to harassment from the arowana. They are also pretty beat up right now so they aren't showing the stunning blue color they had when they first went into the tank. I will update them in a month or so.

I just paid $900 for them. They are about 12-14". The male is a bit larger than the females. I don't want to sell them as they are hard to get at this size, and juveniles are difficult to raise from what I've read. You can buy juvies in BC for about $11. If things get too bad I will put them in a recovery tank and once they are healed I'll give you dibs. I really just want my arowana to relax and leave them alone.

That is a male red terror. Females are even nicer.

I just pick these guys up a week or so ago. My arowana hates them. Hopefully things will settle down over the next couple of weeks or they will have to go before they are totally shredded. I have 1 male and 2 females.
