  1. He is a magnificent beast! I've always liked him.
  2. Flagtails are best kept singly. They get along with other fish but, from the research I did, they will fight each other to the death in the aquarium. In the wild they travel in shoals upstream to spawn much like our salmon. Thanks for the kind comments the tag date on the aro is feb 25/08 . Just about 2 years old.
  3. The fish in front of the aro is a prochilodus taenurius. Not sure of the spelling also known as a flagtail prochilodus or fei feng.
  4. I had this tank drilled and put a 2" overflow in it and moved my SR arowana and tankmates into it and put the XB arowana in the 180 as he doesn't play well with others. Check out the new look.
  5. Thanks that helps me make up my mind.
  6. Do leo's stay any smaller?
  7. Those are frickin sweet! I love henlei's. Too bad they get so big.
  8. Both fish look like they have no problems eating. Lookin good Wayne!
  9. ok so... my next plan... http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/ab22/Me_Ako/043.jpg alright, so then what should I do, now that I have done a ton of research and everyone has been saying "bad idea" I guess I will just keep visiting the rays at WEM. But now I want something cool in this tank- again 80gal. My other tank has cichlids. I want something predator like. Any suggestions? Get a bigger tank and use the 80 for a sump.
  10. Here is the response to some questions I had for him. Thanks for the hook-up and the leg work Neil. What you previously wrote:>1) Can I dilute the Prime with water at a 1:1 ratio and will it still be stable? Yes, it will remain stable, assuming the pH stays basically the same. We pH Prime to be above 7 for long term stability. At lower pH it will degrade over time... but we're talking months-years here... I assume you're just talking about dilution and use over a few days. But I wouldn't dilute it and pH it to 4, that would be a problem. But if you're ro or di or reasonably good tap water to dilute you should be fine. >>2) How long does Prime stay active once in the aquarium water? Prime is a general reducing agent so it will react rapidly with anything that can be reduced, normally that is chlorine/chloramine so it reacts with those first because they are strong oxidizers. But if there is no chlorine/chloramine in the tank water then Prime will react with whatever general organics are in there that can be reduced, so how long it last depends on how "clean" your aquarium water is. If it is real dirty it won't last too long, if very clean, then it will last longer... but in either case I'd say you're on the order of minutes-hours range in an active aquarium if there is no chlorine/chloramine present. -Greg Morin
  11. The first pic is my best pic ever but the second one captures the 6 th level gold much better. Still got some work to do but getting closer. I have lots of time to figure out how to use this equipment. Flash timing and intensity is a little off and if I had a 60mm instead of 100 mm macro might be better for the big fish. Patrick and Gerry can chime in anytime with their hints.
  12. Thanks Neil. I think its my best pic yet. Thank you.
  13. I believe 3 are female and one is male. I can't say for certain as I don't know the age of the 3 smaller ones but they have less developed nuchal humps. They will never spawn in this tank because my arowana is constantly harassing them.
  14. I would get more females. Get that male focused on breeding with more than one. A few good hiding spots will help. I will sell these 4 if you are interested PM.
  15. Thanks. Thank you. I am going to guess that he is between 1.5-2yrs and is only about 14-15". Tag date is feb 2008.
  16. I gave the parents of these guys to my mom about 8 years ago. They have been breeding them for about 7 yrs now. They have about 15 fronts in their 120 gallon and counting. Before I gave them the 120 they had 19 fronts ,at one time, in a 4 foot 110 gallon tank. Thanks.
  17. Tough fish to capture. I need to figure out how to use my flashes better. This is the best I could do for today. Some tankmates
  18. Its just the fishes lateral line. They all have it. Thanks Neil.
  19. Thanks guys but not as good as others on this forum.
  20. You've probably seen a million frontosa pics but I thought I'd throw in a couple.
