Melafix is for fresh water or salt water use. I have tried different foods, the garlic soak pellets get gobbled up with vigor, but just end up getting spit out and sucked up and spit out. I am assuming he is getting some food down as he still is defecating. And yes adding different medications at the same time is not a good idea, as they may interact with each other and the results may not be favourable.

I have a ill Electric Yellow from what I can find he may have Fish Tuberculosis? He is in a quarantine tank and has been there since early April. He does try to eat but spits out the food tried 4 different types of food but still spits it out. Trying to treat him with Melafix (only bacterial medication the local fish shop has) Only other medications choices are for Ick, Velvet or Fin Rot which he does not have. Any other sugestions on what his illness may be? Oh ya raised termperature and added salt.

He is 8" about 3 years old. He is defiantly a hoover.

It is probably a good idea to treat the tank as you probably won't see them free swimming in the water or even know they are there until you start seeing the white sports on your fish.

I would say he has ick. need to quarantine him and treat your tank.

I have one of them (oval shaped canister). I had 2 problems with it 1. Leaked like yours. Fixed that by raising the canister higher, about level with the bottom of the tank. It does not have the power to lift the water very high. The pressure builds up in the canister (pushing out the sides) and it starts to leak, would probably not happen if it was round or square shaped. 2. Yup self priming that means you prime it your self. The shorter the hoses the better it works. Had mine working for about a year now on a small 7 G tank works well once ya figure it out.

If you cleaned "all" the media in the filter under chlorinated tap water your tank will cycle again, as all the good bacteria has been killed by the chlorine. Keep an eye on the ammonia and nitrAte nitrIte levels as they will spike again.

The tank I assume is a 10G starter kit from wal-mart? Don't believe there is a 200 they are named by the tank of size of tank the will go with, EG: Aqua-Tec 10-20 10 to 20 gallon tank. The model # is on the bottom. Here are the instructions
