Thanks they are my first Cichlid kids. I never got any fish from Lana, she was just the one who got me started on here and with Lake Malawi Cichlids. I will be getting some dolphins from her hopefully -

Thanks. Thats kind of what I thought so on to buy another Rena 4 instead. -
I have looked everywhere for information about this filter system and can't really find out anything about it. Does anyone have any pros or cons and can I run it on freshwater? Thanks for any info.

50 gal corner cichlid tank
cichlidmomwanabe replied to Lana Bollers's topic in Freshwater Photography
Thank you, I will help you set your's up, the rocks in that tank were from our neighbors field. We live on a farm, so lots of neighbors have piles upon piles of rock. It was easy finding flat rocks too. Those kind of rocks are the best price too...hehe Lana I know what you mean by the free rocks my mom has a creek with lots of flat rock. I went "rock picking" for my outside pond and now, they will get cleaned and put in with my cichlids. -
Bulkheads...Where do I get them?
cichlidmomwanabe replied to cichlidmomwanabe's topic in Do-it-yourself
The funny thing is I have done that some people like them some dont...depending on who you talk too. I have been also told to run a fluval fx5 as a sump is a top skimmer and most droppings and such doesnt float. Thanks for your opinion though. -

Neither they say that when you dont adjust their tank size to their size that the organs can start to shut down, which is why we bought the 225 gallon. One of those fish mysteries I guess, fine one day gone the next. Yellowknife, I dont even want to know how much it costs to keep fish up there. My grandma lives in Hay River. -
I just bought a 225 gallon tank that is drilled for sump...I have no idea on how to run a sump system so I'm looking for some type of bulkhead that I can cap and close off the holes in the bottom of the tank. Any suggestions are welcome.

Depends on the size of your tank. I read that if you don't adjust your tank size their organs start to shut down, which is why we bought the 225 gallon. I've heard of people having them for 15+ years though. He was 14 inches.

This is my Iridescent shark "Bruce" whom I bought a 225 gallon tank for less then 2 weeks ago. I had him for just over 6 years. He had passed away just on Sunday. Now my 72 gallon looks empty without him.

Lana, Your tank is beautiful, I cant wait to get mine set up. -
Hello everyone, I just joined this group in hopes of finding out a whole lot of information on Cichlids. I currently have a 72 gallon community tank and 225 gallon empty tank. I bought the 225 gallon 2 weeks ago for my 14" Iridescent shark "Bruce" whom I had for 6 years. "Bruce" has now passed on as of last Sunday so I have decided to fill it with Cichlids. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and can't wait to hear from you.
