  1. i bought that Echinodorus 'Rose' at the fall cas auction. it was about 8-10 inches tall. maybe yours? if you have extra even small ones i would love to get some more! the plant has probably doubled or tripled in size since the auction. i love that plant. i was reading about it and they said the maximum size was 16" tall, but mine is pretty much there now.
  2. i have a diy c02 with 2, 2 liter pop bottles setup. maybe once every two months i does with excel if there is an algae break out. there is some long green algae on some drift wood but it looks cool right now. and i have been keeping an eye on it. it has not gotten any worse. plus i have giant vals, i heard excel is bad for that plant.
  3. i tried to get them to substitute flame moss instead of christmas moss but they said they did not have much left, even though they still had it listed for sale. and they said that christmas moss shipped better. i think they were just making excuses
  4. in my 46 gallon bowfront i have a large Echinodorus 'Rose' it is about 14" tall and 12" wide. i would like to encourage it to send out runners. i had a regular amazon sword plant right beside it about the same size and it had runners about three times. the lighting is a coral life 36" dual 96watt one 10000k and one fresh 6500k bulbs i have a diy Co2 system with 2 two liter bottles. i was fertilizing for a while but i have stopped and have not noticed a difference in plant growth. all plants in the tank are doing very well even the red plants are red. i just took out the regular amazon sword and cut it in half and replanted in a different tank. i have also thined out some of the other plants since this pic was taken. how can i encourage it to send runners?
  5. do you want the led lighting for growng or for moon lights?
  6. i have a coral life lite that has the led built into a 36" fixture it has two LED's it is on a 77 gallon tank. it looks cool. i don't know what kind of difference it makes, they say it is less stressful on the fish if you use LED's. i also made my own. i bought some automotive LED's from walmart they came in a 4 pack for $10. they work on a 12 volt system, so i found a ac/dc adapter that i had laying around the house from old appliances like old cordless phones or answering machines. anything more than 4 volts will works. then i drilled a small hole in the canopy to fit the led into. or you can put the LEDs under your existing light on the edges somewhere. this whole system cost me $10 for 4 LED's. if you buy LED's in the fish store they are $30 or more per led.
  7. I don't know? That is what they were called. They only get to 3-4 inches in size. I don't know anything about gobies. I know some can get huge

  9. i just picked up 3 40 gallon tanks with a 2 1/2 inch hole drilled in them, i was going to plug the hole but thought i would wait and see what it would take to build a sump system. i also need to build a rack or shelves to put all this onto. the tanks are 16" X 16" X 36" the hole is in the middle. on this rack i would also like to put some 10 g and 5 g. this is what i currently have. they all their own filters and heaters. the bench was an old one that was already built. i have never had a sump system before. so i need help and suggestions. i don't even know what i would need for the pump, tubing or anything this is a picture of the tanks i just got
  10. Their user name on ebay is aquamagic, or something like that. They are from maylasia or somewhere like that
  11. They are substituting 2 of the plants I ordered with 4 bunches of christmas moss so hopefully it all goes good this time.
  12. so i gave them a rest for about a week feeding them only frozen blood worms. i tried making a 80% water change twice now, and they still have not spawned. i may have to give up on them for a while and put them back into the comunity tank for a few months. bronze corys spawn so easy! why wont these spawn?
  13. i have never used methaline blue for preventing eggs fungusing i have used mardel maroxy an antifungal "stuff" but i did not know how well it worked. i went out and bought some methaline blue the the instuctions say 5ml per 10 gallons continue for 3 -5 days. perform partial water change after 24hours then retreat. after 3 - 5 day treatment perform 25% water change . what does this mean? does the 5ml last for 5 days? do i have to do a 25% water change the first day? and the 5th day? it is for killi eggs so it might take a while for the eggs to hatch? also i had a tank with newly hatched bronze corys and betta's can i leave this in the tank while the fry is in there? the recomended dose turned the water very blue? Thanks Fleshgear
  14. Pisces pet emporium and ge 1200 silicone today. i think the price was $12 per tube i dont know if it is the same as scs1200 or not
  15. I think I might have some room for your fish at my house. Lol My giant PK spawn has one bigger male and I'm going to have take him out soon. He's only 6 weeks old or so but picking on everybody. Don't know what I"m going to do when they all need to be jarred though. May have to live on the balcony soon!! Oh the joys of betta breeding!!
  16. the maximum water change i have done is 50% I have been doing water changes for about 10 days. also i have not been adding any water conditioner at all. The RO water is bottled water. How much cooler should i go? i have been doing it about 10 degrees Celsius cooler
  17. the only thing that i am not sure of is the male to female ratio. i thought i seen two females but i was not sure. i can tell the bronze males and female's but the lasers are harder to tell. How long should i keep changing water? will it stress them if i do it for too long?
  18. the ro water parameters are GH less than 20 KH less than 10 PH 6.6 - 6.8 these fish were in a comunity tank with regular water changes. the fish seem to be happy and active in the 10 gallon tank. if anyone thinks that i may be doing something wrong please let me know. Thanks Flshgear
  19. i have 5 orange laser Cory's in a bare ten gallon with a few plants thrown in and a small heater and ac filter. i have been doing a daily 30-50% water change with straight reverse osmosis water about 10- 15 degrees cooler. feeding frozen blood worms and mixing it up a little with other foods. it has been about 2 weeks now and still nothing. meanwhile in the 45 gallon community tank i do a 70 % water change an my bronze Cory's spawn twice in a week. i separated the eggs from the fist spawn and now have at least 100 babies in a 2 and 1/2 gallon tank. probably 85 % of the eggs hatched. i want my orange lasers to spawn!!
  20. i have two baby Betta's fighting in a 20 gallon tank with some pingu guppies and some spawning Cory's. i just noticed them flaring at each other today and then they kinda get side by side and it kinda looks like they are trying to mate. it is kind of funny watching them flare at each other. will keep a close eye on them and separate if necessary.
  21. i know the feeling, i have 3 empty tanks that i am searching for a spot to put them, also i need heaters. if i had heaters they would probably bet setup already!
  22. i did not read the whole thing, but i think it said i could use silicone 1 or 2 as long it is not mildew restistant or anti fungus? i wanted to get the black exterior silicone 2. this should be safe for fish as long as i do it outside or away from fish right? sorry i know this is a little off topic! Thanks
  23. is the silicone that you used aquarium safe? i was looking for some a while ago. i thought that type said specifically not for aquarium use
  24. That is good. i will deffinetly have to get a pair of those from you. I'm having issues with the male MG CT he is not wanting to build a nest. i evn tried putting a nest from a different fish in there to see if he would get the right idea, but so far he has not got it. the PK fry seem to be doing alright though so that is good.
  25. recently ich has gone through a few of my tanks. i took out most of the fish that had a bad case of ich and put them into a 10g quarantine tank. The one tank i had two clown loaches, lots of tetras. i have lots of Cory's, about 25 spread through out most of my tanks i raised the temp to 83ish and dosed 1 tbsp per 5 gallon of salt in all tanks, plus dosed with ich medicine in three of the tanks. the tank with the clown loaches and tetras i only dosed 1/2 strength. The ich is gone in all tanks except the quarantine tank. out of the fish that went into the quarantine tank 6 German rams, 2 rummy nose tetras, 1 male guppy 3 sword tails. i lost 3 German rams the tetras and the sword tails jumped out of the tank. the last three German rams still have ich one is quite bad. all the other tanks are fine one of the clown loaches had one spot of ich, but is fine now. even with that much salt i did not notice any Cory's acting strangely, and all lived. i also fed frozen blood worms, micro worms, and frozen tubeiflex worms while this was all going on.
