    14 Gallon Seamless Tank

Just some pictures of the new gouramis that I have in there now. Enjoy. The Yellow Gourami Not named yet... suggestions welcome. Not a very good shot of the blue one but shes camera shy, everytime I brought it close to the tank she hid.
  3. More Pictures: Blue again, he loves having his picture taken. This is one eyed jack, shes really a girl. she was born with one eye. And is SUCH a sweety.
  4. Well I noticed that I had a topic on my lighting but nothing on the tank itself. 20 gallon tank: Custom Lighting: 4x13 CFL Bulbs Plants: vals, Java moss, Java Ferns, Sagittaria subulata, crypts, and a plant I still have no idea what it is. Co2: No but I use excel Gravel: Normal Black gravel Filtration: 1 20-30 Tetra whisper, 1 elite mini used as powerhead (works great for that) Regular temp kept at: 77F to 78F Pictures: *Who you looking at* Blue the powder blue dwarf gourami Ghost Shrimp Male Honey Gourami *kisses* Male Honey Gourami Another Ghost Shrimp An Oto one of the three gold tetras
  5. Ok the first one was frasier, but he was old so I understand... I had gotten a replacement Sat, by tuesay it was dead, no reason to, water was fine, no fugus nothing. So I brought it back and exchanged it for another. This one did get fugus, but it was over night! I don't get it! it was fine swimming everything was ok I wake up its hardly moving and coved in fungus! Both of these where healthy in the store. I got them from PJs in londonderry. I had them in a heated 2 gallon tank with an air stone. They had fine gravel and a java fern. I fed them once a day with top fin betta bits. I used prime waster conditioner. What the heck is going on??? Am I doing something wrong??? Both my other bettas that are in smaller containers with out heat and an air stone are fine. I'm puzzled as to why they keep dieing. When I go in to bring it back because its still under the seven days I'm going to see if I can just exchange it for something else. Cause this is DUMB! I'll hold off on a new betta untill I know whats going on.
  6. I did some checking online I think my problem might be from to much water being taken out during my water. I found this on another fourm during my search... From what I know about tap water, you used your water conditioner to get rid of the Chloramine and Chlorine and in doing so it allows ammonia to release from its bond with them. Causing the ammonia to go into your water, I use Prime, so it turns it into a non harmful form of ammonia. This might be causing a spike. Thus adding to what Nikolay has said. Whatcha think? am I onto something here?????????????????
  7. Okay I have 4X13Watt CFL bulbs... do I go with what it would be in watts or what it is in watts to find the WPG??? I'm confused!
  8. Well I thought I would take some pictures... I'm going to check out that link Caressa. Thanks
  9. Just lovely, where did you find such a beauty!?
  10. For my 20 gallon which is my baby, I bought a 20 to 29 gallon metal stand. I thought, yah right ... when I first put it together. But all in all its a great stand and only cost me $69.99. They don't have any that are bigger But on the plus side I can upgrade my tank by 9 gallons if I ever wanted to. I think that most petstore stand are ok since they are made with the tank weight in mind. But if your a handy person making your own is always nice too.
  11. DARN DARN DARN good thing I check my posts before I deal with the days work ahead of me... I'll try that But if it doesn't work I'll remove the baby vals and it the parents die then I have the babies for back up.
  12. AGHHH!!!! I found out from this site : http://theplantedtank.co.uk/algae.htm That I do not have thread algae like another site suggested... I have staghorn! Those pictures look the same as what I have in my tank!!!!!!!!!!!!! So heres the plan.. tomorrow... I'm going to add 2X the excel dose and hopefully I wont kill my vals. becuase they are getting REALLY bad too... I know its not my water circulation, but I don't have any Co2 other then excel that I put in every day if i remember usually every two days.
  13. HEY thats a great idea! I didn't even think about that... when I bought the small plastic reptile container I had looked at a heating pad for it and they had said glass only. Thats a much better solution... but are they adjust able??? to that if its too hot I can turn it down? I don't work till Sat. so If I don't find out soon It'll be bugging me all week LOL.... yes I'm on of those people!
  14. I'm planning on trying this out in may. I think if all goes well I'll make some for the bettas. If all works well I might try even breeding my bettas. I do have a question, If I was to make one with three sections each with their own heater and filter, would the heaters over heat the water since they are side by side? I was thinking about that last night. Wouldn't three heaters add to much heat. what if I had two on each end? that way they would heat the middle tank... would this work or any I out in left field?
  15. WOW :w00t: thats it! about $44??????? Now I just have to think about a way to get the glass home... Oh well I might BEG!!! my father in law or see if some one here might do it for an exchange of one of the tanks I'll build... Maybe a raining May month... yah have at least 2 singles and my main project done by my b-day (may 19th) ooooo Thanks Jason! GREAT Idea!!!!
  16. I saw this tank and thought HEY thats cute!!! How would I got about this??? I like it would I have to buy the glass and make it? I would like to make 3X 3 gallon tanks If I can make them CHEAP... They would make good betta tanks if I made an interesting lid I think. Maybe a glass lid. Would Plexiglass(sp?) work ok or would it bend under the heat of the light? hmmm this is all making me do some planning... If I can make these I bet I can make them and place all three on my TV Stand side by side far enought not to stress but close enought to have a flare off every once in a while. ORRRR Make a long one and then truen it into three different ones. each with there own filter and heater. Add in a long light that goes over top. Again have to find what I would do for a top. hmmmmm interesting. Any suggestions???
  17. Thanks, I think it was kinda fate though... I went to PJs in londonderry today to pick up some filter stuff cause theyre on sale... and I went over to the betta section. I found a interesting betta, If he doesn't pass away in 2 days he will be named and pictures taken, thats the house rules. I warned him that he has big fins to fit into since he is frasiers replacement. I know no betta can ever fill the void I have but this little guy has promise.
  18. Well here is some suggestions. 4 lemon tetras, 2 mating dwarf cichlids and 3 corydoras catfish Or 3 guppies (1male 2 females), 3 swordtails (1 male 2 females), 3 bronze corydoras Just some suggestions. You could always put some plants in and a betta and have an amazing home for it. As for lighting you'll have to wait for someone else... I'm a dumby with lighting.. I just get lucky... lol
  19. Amazing! You are just magic with your photos Patrick

    Frasier

    RIP Aug 9 2008 TO Feb. 15 2009
  22. Well Last night everyone in the house looked good everyone was swimming and having a great time. While doing my feeding rounds this morning I went over to frasier and called his name. He would always come from where ever in the tank he slept that night. AND yes he always came when I called him. But today he didn't...... At some point during the night Frasier the betta passed away. I found him at his favorite sleeping spot, under a big java fern leaf. For those of you who never knew frasier, he was an amazing betta. My first betta since I was a child, I had boughten him at PetSmart only a few days after I started working there (bought aug 9 2008). Out of all the bettas in my house, we was the most friendly, always coming up to say hi. He would flare out his gill area but his body would stay passive. He was loved by all, my husband, both my 3 years old and 1 1/2 year old, my brother and my other family members who would come to visit me and the family BUT ALWAYS stopped to say hi to him. He will be missed by all. Bye big guy! We'll see you in the big pond in the sky. Frasiers journal
