You could add 3 white cloud fish and make a small planted unheated tank.

I'm thinking of moving this tank from my bedroom to the main floor of my house. There is a spot that has very little light right by my front door that I think would be perfect. Only problem is there is no plug in. I could get away with taking a power cord and doing that since it is now a coldwater tank. I only need to plug in a light and a HOB filter. I think when I do this I might temp house my clouds and redo the tank. I have a small tote bin that I could use to house them for a few days. I'm thinking of changing out the gravel I have in there and putting some pebbles in there. maybe a small layer of sand then pebbles and make it more natural. I was thinking as well what plants I should put in there. I heard Vals can stand up to cool temps, my java fern is going nuts! So I think I'll keep that and have it grow all over my drift wood. Also I wanted to add.... Kayen posted on Jan 13th 2009 that a friend had gotten the same light as me and it died in a week. WELL I am still using the same light! Even the same bulb! I have it on for 8 house everyday, some times more when I got to bed and feel like watching the fish for a while.

I found out that my land lord doesn't allow big tanks (nothing over 30 gallons). This was after I saved them from someone who had them in a 5 gallon tank. We plan on buying a house in a few years. So once we do I'll be getting my dads 150Gallon tank. but until then I am not allowed. And no it didn't come off harsh, I know they need a bigger tank thats why I do HUGE (like 50 to 75 % water changes weekly).

Yah they still are. Breathing is still normal. Its weird. they swim around then take a break then swim around and then take a break. They aren't old. Maybe 3 years... I got them almost 2 years ago so Its just a guess but they where young feeders when I got them and they are now 4 to 5 inches long (lots of growth since they where only 1 inch when I got them.)

I had a problem with this stuff. I found that if you don't get all of it, it will keep coming back. Good luck!

Nope everything is fine thats why I'm so puzzled. I have 3 commons in my 20g.

I noticed today that my comman goldfish are acting lazy. their breathing is fine, they swim and eat well. Its weird, they swim around then I'll look over at them again and one will be laying at the bottom. It started with one now 3 are doing it. They are breathing normal, water is normal, temp is about 68F. They haven't lost any coloring at all. They look like they are being well lazy, taking a nap and then swimming again, take a nap and swim and so on. Am I being a worry wart? or is there maybe something wrong?

Thanks bosshog, could I get away with 1 hermit crab? I'm still looking up on the whole molly thing, but so far as long as I introduce them slowly they will be ok. So far it looks like I'll be stocking 2 or 3 Lysmata amboinensis Pair of mollies Maybe one hermit crab I might test the mollies out in a 2.5 gallon test tank. That way I wont go threw to much money and see if I can handle it.

Here is what I am thinking for stocking it I was thinking two or three Lysmata amboinensis. Opinions? What about mollies are my cycle fish? I've read that they can be used but how well do they like it?

Okay I'm due July 10, and I want to take one of my unused 10 gallon tanks and make a nano salt water tank for the babys room. I don't plan on having any fish, but any fish suggestion are welcome. I plan on getting some live rock and sand. some colorul coral suggestions are welcome. I was thinking of just having some shrimp and snails in the tank. But now going to the hard stuff... What will I need for my set up. Filter suggestions powerhead will I need a protien skimmer for a nano? Lighting suggestions. I think thats it for those right? or am I missing something. I will be building a stand for it so my older kids can't reach into it. Well I'm off to do more reading. Thanks for the help

I had those in mine as well I was grossed out with those, I can even think what I would be like taking that down... thank goodness for gloves.

I agree its kinda gross.. but so neat at the same time.

UPDATE: Right now the tank is looking REALLY bad... I had a huge snail problem, which I'm still fixing. All thats in there for plants and fish are: Java moss, 11 baby white clouds and 2 gold tetras, oh and about 50 snails... sigh.... Will have pictures as soon as I find my camera.

Well after almost a year of not updating this, I think I should add a written update, well that is until I find my camera... My 29 Gal has been turned into a goldfish tank. I love the little buggers! They are over 4" comman goldfish (aka feeder fish from petsmart), there is 3 of those. I have one other one that I think is just a fancy goldfish, he is the one we got my daughter for christmas in 08. I have 3 nice size drift wood in there, as well I have a rubber lip and a oto, I still have no idea how the little guy ended up in there but I saw him over 6 months ago, thought I removed them all but hes been living in there for 6 months happily eating algae. The tank sits over 70o so its cool but not really all that cold. I plan on getting photos as soon as my camera shows up, yay for kids that use chairs to get to things they aren't suppost to have! OH also the drift wood has tinted the water which I personally think look nice but we'll see what everyone says once I get those pictures.

Just wondering how everything is look.. Also where do you find HC seeds. I want to try this in my 14G seemless. It looks like poop right now and I'm waiting until March to do it but its the plan anyway.

I dunno if this is the spot for this, but PJs pets in Londonderry Mall has baby white cloud minnows being sold for $0.25 each. They are selling them as feeders. But I personally bought 8 (they gave me 11) to start a cold water take up. I paid $2.10 for them. If your in the area and are needing or starting up a new tank. These cheap fishies don't need a heater so their great to 10 gallon planted room temp water. Anyway thought I would pass this information along.

Well I finally got it out... I would gentally pull, give him some water to breath then pull again. It looks like the little oto did a little damage but it doesn't look all that bad. I'll put him in my "medical" tank and treat him with a little melifix(sp?) to help with the healing and hope that all goes well. The oto was still alive, I put him in a net to put into a small medical tank and when I turned around he was gone :shock: I looked all around the floor and in the tank and he's no where to be found... I think maybe the dog got him... but it was only 30 seconds... weird!!!

Yesterday I put in some adult otos in with my goldfish because my tank was leaking and I needed to fix it. Now everyone left the gues alone, and I thought because they where all adults that everything would be ok because my gold fish weren't big enough to eat them. Well I guess no one told one of my goldfish. The oto has been "stuck" in the goldfishes mouth for almost 24 hours. Is there anything I can do? I know I messed up it was a learning curb, with the heat and my tank levels being normal I thought hey they should be fine for 24 to 48 hours while I fix the tank. Do you think i can maybe pull the fish out or should I just wait some more or should I put the goldfish to sleep.... I'm sorta lost, any help would be great. Thanks.

that looks just like a tank we have a the petsmart I work at. Can't wait to see more photos.
