  6. it is easier to clean up the fallen debis and detritus this way. also when i had my brown algae bloom my nice white substrate wasnt turned brown. when i add the substrate my clean up crew will have less initial work. thanks for the comments, -paul

  9. hey, does anyone here use pfo led lighting system for there reef tank?? i was thinking of ordering some from jl when they get some in stock. seems like it would be an imrovment over MH lights. a little pricey but i think it would be worth it. here is a link.... http://www.solarisled.com/ thanks, -paul

  11. okay, no octopus. i think i will stick with the clown anenome combo. would this be compatible with a clam, and couple gobies? -paul
  12. right now its a toss up. maybe clowns and anenome(everyone has it) maybe the hot trend of octopus or just some corals clams and a 2 spot goby(they crack me up) really not too sure yet. any suggestions??? -paul
  13. i know its not much to look at yet....but here it is anyway. 24gal jbj nano cube w/ cabinet stand. tunze osmalator auto top off, tunze DOC nano skimmer, k2 viper HQI 150w halide, 125 ebo heater. plan to use indo live rock with argonite for substrate. thanks, -paul  i would also like to thanks colby at elite for fielding ALL my questions in regards to nano reefing
  14. i have pm'ed you. as for breeding, you will soon realize that breeding asain aro's is extremely rare in tanks. ppl have had limited success in large concrete ponds over singapore. -paul
  15. oohhh nice!! i think that was the one i wanted to buy. was it on the top in the middle tank?? then i thought about it....hmmm....i think i want a blue based x-back....hmm...i will continue to save up my pennies. looks good. carful with the water changes. i was using the same method as i used for my cichlids( drain water, treat whole tank hose in new water from tap) this was NOT good for the aro. the chlorine was not being nuetrilized fast enough. aro sufferd from multiple chipped scales. i have been aging my water in a 30gal tank with a heater and air stone for at least 10 hours before i pump it into the main tank. i still use aquaplus in the holding tank. scales are starting to heal, but it is a long process and my patients are wearing thin. i have a 180gal and i change 20 gal every three days. i have had great success with this. dont forget the temp for the aro tank should be be higher than normal. i wasnt informed of this when i purchased. it was the one thing i didnt look up in my research before i bought. i run my tank a about 28.5 dergrees. im sure you have done all your research, but if you have any questions i will be happy to answer. i was a first time aro keeper when i got this guy and have learned a lot in the last 6 months. im still a noob but i have worked through some sticky times. -paul oh one more thing, when my aro was new to the tank he was kinda jumpy. tank is beside my bed, so when i would roll over at night he would jump hard. i kept my water level very low(10 inches) for the first bit. now he is not so jumpy but he will still attack a floating plant at night some times. he has caught him self on the glass brace a couple of time causing some damage(he healed well) water is still kept 5 inches from the top. sorry babbling on and on and on, -paul
  16. nice tim!! let me know when you have some pups for sale!! -paul henlei are my fav!
  17. he is currently in a 180. hopfully soon he will be in the new 270gal. -paul
  18. i feed the worms/cricks NLS. i used to feed the aro straight nls but he would not eat enough to thrive. he was staying a little skinny. food was good, aro is just picky. -paul
  19. i am feeding superworms, prawns, crickets and some feeders. -paul

  25. well its been 3 months now. here is the latest pic of my SR arowana. pic is average but you can see the red starting to develop on the gill plate. also, the scales are starting split into the base colour and where the red is going to develop. -paul
