  4. Those are amazing colours! If the male is just sitting under his nest staring at the bubbles, odds are they have spawned already. At this pint you can take out the female and wait for fry. If not, I'm not sure what to do, I have this issue with pearl gouramis not wanting to spawn

  14. Fry are free swimming as of this morning. The parents moved them from the top of the leaf to the plants root system. Kinda looks funny, white roots that seem to vibrate.
  15. Its spring outside in case anyone hasn't noticed and my fishroom sure is the proof of this. Over the last couple weeks, I have had a couple species of cichlids go into spawning mode. The most awaited of these species was neolamprologus caudopunctatus, I have had these fish in a species tank since last october waiting for some action. Turns out all their tank needed was a quick decor change and fry appeared a week later. I walked in today to see that my rainbow cichlid had spanwed which was a total surprise. I had just moved these to a different tank, and I was expecting them to take longer to adjust! Anyone else's fishroom going spring crazy? Pics to come Vince
  16. Agreed! She indeed did a great job!

  20. Hey Folks, I have a 20L that houses some shell dwellers. The substrate is sand and only sand. For the past nine months, there hasn't been any plants in it, and I have been battling a cyano outbreak. Im curious if anyone knows of any plants that can tolerate sand, or thrive in sand, so that I may get the nutrients under control. The lights are on less than 8 hours a day, and the tank gets a 20% WC weekly. Any help will be much appreciated.
  21. yeah, by adding the vals, you may have released ammonia from the gravel? testing for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate will give us a better idea. how are the rest of the fish faring? Are any of them sticking to the top of the water, breathing heavy? Does the water stink?
  22. Hello Folks, I have a group of albino bristlenose that have been breeding continuously for the last year. The male must be getting tired, as he's been kicking out the eggs the last few times. He still raises the odd batch here and there, but his performance as a father has been rather lacking lately. The last time he kicked the eggs outs, I removed them and put them in a small 2.5g to see if they would hatch. The tank wasn't very clean and they didn't hatch. This time, I decided to leave them in there. The fish reside in a 20g tank with some CRS, with lots of plants, rocks and open feeding areas. The eggs survived me syphoning the rocks clean, and two more days in the open feeding ares. This evening, they had dissapeared, so I assumed they had been eaten. Wrong! There are small plecos with huge yolk sacs stuck to the side of the tank. Being albinos, they are very orange as well. Anyone ever experience this?
