  1. Yes, that was me in the yellow shirt. I had a lot of fun volunteering and looking at all the other fish for sale. Thanks Nancy, I forgot to ask his name, but that was really nice of him. I wasn't sure whether he was a member on here or not, but I figured you might know his name, so I was hoping you'd see this post. What else did you get a the auction? Thanks!
  2. Not sure if he is a member on here or not, but I just wanted to say thanks to Howard, who gave me his red-eye swords today at the auction. They are absolutely stunning, and they are definetly my new favorite fish. Solid red, absoluely beautiful. Thanks again! Dan
  3. They also always have filter material on for buy one get one free.. Its where I get mine....
  4. Get well soon Harold!! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

  5. Sorry to hear about the rams. Just lost my last male when I went on vacation two days ago, The poor little guy jumped clear out of my tank.... I was so upset. Don't give up on keeping them though, I'm not, They're beautiful fish...
  6. If you don't mind me asking. where did you get your male from? I need another female.. Thanks!
  7. I am not an expert at all, so don't take my word on it, but when I have kept them, they have always done better around my other fish. I hope they are still alive in the morning. Good luck!
  8. I would quickly try putting them in your 140, if for just a day or two. I keep mine in a 135 gallon community with angels and tetra's, but when I moved them to a densely planted 15 gallon breeding tank by themselves, they died within a week. I think they like lots of fish around them. If it were me, I would try putting them in there. I don't think you have anything to lose. It sounds like they are going to die. Good luck!
  9. What about like 15 zebra danio's? i have about 10 of them, and I love them. They are so active, and cheap too!
  10. Golds on 17th Ave is by far the best in Calgary IMO...
  11. Hi, I'm going to Edmonton in about 2 weeks. I will be staying for a weekend, and was just wondering what fish stores were worth visiting. I probably can't buy anything, but I would love to go have a look. Which ones are good? Which ones should I avoid? Thanks! Dan
  12. Thanks! The parents are gorgeous, so I can't wait to get these guys growing. I will continue to update with pictures as they grow, but I can't take any more pictures right now, as the methylene blue in their tank doesn't allow for good pictures. Thanks! Dan
  13. I just use water straight from the tap, so I'm sure that they would be fine in your water too.I think that German blues would do very well with your discus. I have also read in many places that Rams do better in higher temperature, but I don't know that for sure. It would make for a great looking tank. I have wanted to get into discus for quite a while, but I don't have the tank space, and I can't set up any more tanks right now. How many do you have? What kinds? I would love to see some pictures! Thanks! Dan
  14. Sorry for the late reply. I think that the rams are okay in our Alberta water... They are very delicate though. I try to get them in a tank and keep them there. I moved 2 pairs into a 25 gallon tank, figuring I'd take out the pair that hadn't laid eggs. Anyways, after about a day, the rams were very grey. They didn't look good. I moved them all back to my tank, and lost a pair in the proccess. Haven't had a problem since. I think that they are just very delicate. Egg Update: About 5 eggs turned white. The rest are happily wiggling away in the 10 gallon. Can't take any pictures right now though, too much meth blue in the water. Excited to get these guys swimming. Thanks. Put up the rest of the pictures on my flickr. Here's my link. The better pictures of the pair are at the bottom. http://www.flickr.com/photos/55691289@N02/
  15. Its pretty nasty, moving those big tanks. I'm moving my 135 gallon in about 2 weeks. To say the least, I'm not looking forward to it. My mom decided to change the flooring in our whole basement. We decided to move the tank with about 2 inches of water left in it. Its going to be really heavy. We're gonna get 2 or 3 other guys to come help us lift it up onto some carpenters carts, then we're gonna roll it into a small storage space, so the floor can be put in, then the tankn ncan be moved back into postition. Glad to hear it went well for you. How many people did it take to lift yours? Our tanks are fairly similar in size and gravel and water, etc... Would just like to get an idea so were not scrambling around at the last minute. Thanks!
  16. Well, they started laying eggs, but in the gravel... I decided to bury a plant leaf right over where they were laying the eggs. After about half an hour, the rams started laying their eggs on the leaf! I think I only got about half of them though... Heres some pictures of the eggs and pictures. Will upload the rest of them later... Edit: It seems I can't upload the pictures because they are too big, I will resize them , and then upload them later.
  17. OK, thanks. I'll let you know.
  18. I don't have any for sale, but I probably will after they lay eggs. Looks like they might lay some eggs today or tomorrow!
  19. Thanks! Can't take any credit though, Jonah obviously did a great job raising them. I am really excited to get some fry from these. I'll get some more pictures of them soon. Their blue is much deeper now, and the male is very red. They are great!
  20. I've had these for about a week or two now, they are doing really well. Showing some signs of breeding too! Shouldn't be long now! I only have a couple good pictures right now, but I will try to get some more tomorrow. Thanks Jonah!
