  1. I've bought parts from BigAl's for my Rena's... Will check there, thanks.
  2. Anyone know where you can buy parts for the Rena Filstar filters in Edmonton? I lost an intake tube and have an XP3 sitting here collecting dust until I can find another one.
  3. mine always left it alone too. They would eat java fern, but not anubias.
  4. some beautiful chubby little goldies you ave in there
  5. black moors, shubunkins, ryukin, ranchu, bubble eyes etc, they are all the same fish, carassius auratus, and can spawn with each other. Just be happy it's the black moor who is the male and not the other way around, as the shubunkin female should be able to escape him easily when she needs a break.
  6. Sorry to hear that Val! *hug* I hope your 8 year old fishy is ok
  7. he's beautiful, where did you get him? Looks very much like one of the guys I just sold.
  8. Congrats Blackmumba! Your bettas are so beautiful
  9. you take such awesome pictures Patrick! What an adorable squirrel.
  10. That is incredibly messed up, reminds me of the whole gerbils in anus fiasco I remember hearing about years ago. :boxed:
  11. I used to use these meds a lot when I was keeping mainly fancy goldfish. It has always been my understanding that metronidazole best treats internal parasites (which can cause white stringy poop) and Hexamita (hole in the head), whereas I found praziquantel better for treating gill flukes, flatworms, etc. I've combined the treatments in the past by feeding food medicated with metronidazole and treating the water with prazi. Hope this helps.
  12. I was all stoked to try this. Went outside with a cup and didn't find a single earthworm! Of course, I didn't exactly try really hard either lol. Scared of lifting up a rock or something and finding swarms of them
  13. Mine just spawned I got them as babies from Jvision a little over a year ago I think?
  14. Rena Filstar XP3 They're great filters and easy to use, also not too pricey when compared to the eheims
  15. That's a sexy tank! Congratulations on your little baby fishes
  16. I got these guys as fry from a saskatoon auction a while ago. They are following in the blue dolphin's footsteps and have started spawning They are the yellow fin variety, my male looks exactly like this: copadochromis Borleyi (Mara Point) Good thing I found a 66 gallon tank for 30 bucks the other day, cuz it looks like I'm gonna have a lot of babies to contend with
  17. Is it a male copadichromis chrysonotus?
  18. :/ Uh oh I did lose about 1/4 of the fry last night, I woke up to a bunch of tiny dead bodies in the net so that's probably what happened, hey? The other babies still left are looking good. I don't really have anything to move them to atm tho I have a little tiny 2.5 gallon critter keeper, but I have no way to filter it or keep it warm... If anyone has a tank between 10 and 30 gallons for sale that I could use as a fry tank, that would be a big help! P.S. Here are pics of the adults
  19. Thanks everyone You know what's really crazy? The female I stripped is already spawning with the male again o.O Punman, the dolphins are in a 48 long right now with the babies in a breeding net. I got these dolphins as fry from a saskatoon auction, so now that they're all grown up and spawning for me I'm all proud lol. I plan on moving the contents of the 48 to a bigger tank as soon as an affordable used one pops up. And I'll see if I can get any pics of the proud parents
  20. The male knocked up both the females about 3 weeks ago. I stripped one of the females tonight and have a ton of little blue dolphins Last count was around 60 I'm new to baby cichlids so wish me luck!
  21. that's so exciting! congratulations Jason  I have a male and female of yours in my cichlid tank together; maybe I'll get lucky and they'll get busy, too...
  22. All my auction fishies are also doing well I'm very happy with all of my purchases.
  23. This is a myth, regular old table salt is just fine. Can you go into further detail about this? I have always read that the anti-caking agents used to keep table salt free-running (like Yellow Prussiate of Soda or whatev) were harmful to the fishies in large doses?
