  1. I second the goldfish thing.. Although I doubt it's economically viable. There's just not enough goldfish enthusiasts in Edmonton/Alberta. (Although we typically spend more for our fish than others )
  2. I used an upside down 2 litre bottle (with the bottom cut off), hung up with a coat hanger. The cap was drilled, and a piece of airline hose was inserted into it (for draining out the brine shrimp), and for aerating. The bottle was deep enough to put a heater in (if you wanted BBS in 24 hours). Just remember to put your air pump above the hatchery.
  3. I had a 2229 that I used for about 6 years. Even without a prefilter on the intake, I wouldn't need to clean it more than once every 6 months. (Compared to the monthly cleanings of my Fluval 403). It was a very quiet unit as well... Hope that helps!
