  1. Wow! Really cool thread. Thanks for sharing that with us!
  2. Are you talking about water, beer or that Canadian Club you're so fond of??? LOL! You people crack me up!
  3. Wow! Very cool indeed! Thanks so much for sharing with us and the pics.!
  4. Thanks everyone! Wow, there are some pretty chem-smart people on here! -roll- I don't notice a difference myself but my husband won't drink our water from the tap anymore. He swears it tastes salty. We use a brita filter for our drinking water now.
  5. I have a water softener at home. Our town claims their water is fairly soft, however, we have had to replace two bathroom taps due to mineral build-up and corrosion. I'm just wondering how the water softener will affect a freshwater tank. Our neighbor used to have fish and used to come borrow water from us before we got the softener because she felt her softener was adding too much salt to the water. Is it true that my water will have higher levels of salt? If so, how can I make adjustments for this? Sorry for my ignorance on this one. Just one of those things I was thinking of before I start setting up my tank again.
  6. Wow! I can't wait for the day when I will know how to do stuff like that. Looks very nice! And welcome to the forum.
  7. Hello and welcome. I'm new here too and everyone has been very helpful!
  8. Thanks for the great ideas! Now all I have to do is look up these other fish and see what they look like and what they eat. Can you tell I'm pretty much a newbie??
  9. Oh, thank you! That's very nice! Where about's are you from? You don't have to say if you don't want to but it's nice to know other people who live out here in the boonies! lol
  10. Okay, my first love in fish has always been either the cardinal or neon tetras. If I had a 20 gal. tank and about 6 tetras what other fish could I add to that tank that would get along? Or is this already too many for a 20 gal. tank? Oh, and I like colorful fish, if you couldn't already tell. lol
  11. Thanks for the warm welcomes! And as far as getting carried away goes, I can see how easy it can happen. lol
  12. Hi everyone! I live in Provost, a small town of about 2000 people. I have always had fish in the past but have to admit that I didn't know much about them. I was one of those people who went into a fish store, saw a pretty fish and bought it without doing any research into how to keep them. I thought that if they had water and food, they would be fine. lol Now I've been doing a lot more self-educating and plan to get back into the hobby again in the near future. This time, I'm going plan what types of fish I like and which ones get along with other ones, etc. Not to mention all the ins and outs of properly maintaining a tank. Hopefully I'll be able to learn alot here.
