  1. Awe haha, thanks for the birthday wish! That was very nice!

  2. Hey Mark, nice pics of your fish! You've got some sweet critters for sure! And the Royal and Clown look sweet together! Haha. I think he will do great with you! Cheers, Chris
  3. Hey, It looks like the program that runs this board truncates the image location, but if you click it (which it will open in either a separate tab or window) you will see in the address bar the full image location im talking about. Cheers, Chris
  4. Hey, I recently purchased 4 Geos (Acaricthys heckelii) too, so i'll use a quick cell phone shot I grabbed when I got them to explain! To add pics on to here (and most forums) the easiest way will be to add pictures [from your computer] to something like a photobucket account. Then, link the source of the picture (the image code or location which you can obtain from the image properties through a right click and some computers (PC and Mac) will occasionally allow you to simply 'copy image address'. Here is that shot of my Geos: Right click that image (I assume you are using a PC), and find the image address, which you will see is: http://i22.photobuck...14/GeosTest.jpg That code is put between image tags [ i m g ] and [ / i m g ] . (I added spaces to stop the html code from messing them up, but you would create those tags between the [ ] symbols without spaces. The first one 'opens' the code, the second one indicates the end of the image location. So the above code ends up looking like this (without spaces) [ i m g ] http://i22.photobuck...14/GeosTest.jpg [ / i m g ] On photobucket, it shows 4 different links, including the 'pre-made' image one that will usually automatically copy itself when you click it. Then simply copy and paste the pre-made code/link to your post to post it! Hope that helps! Cant wait to see pictures, Cheers, Chris
  5. Wow! Those are some NICE Kelberi! Aha and look at all those big and gorgeous datnoids! Wow! haha.
  6. This guy has a bigger attitude than any parachromis i've owned... lol. He does not back down. He'll continue to colour up eddy... he went from how he looks now to crazy colour in the 112.
  7. Nice! You pick those up from that... 'larger store' in Edmonton? Or did you order them?
  8. Ed look at the blue in that last pic! (and he looks even better in person!) that thing is going to be incredible for you! Woot woot!
  9. ohh sounds exciting! Cant wait for pics! I'd love to get some geos! Cheers, Chris
  10. Eddyyyyyy! Loving these pics you took man! Great job! hes happy in there! I hope this fish does great for you! (PS. This guy is 8.5" long and kept raming in to the eggcrate divider at another fish hence the messed up mouth!)
  11. Sounds sweet Mike! Im excited to see this thing!
  12. Ah awesome! I hear they grow really fast! And wow I didnt realize those fish had been at the store for that long! Haha. They must not have sold too many either. What is your temp at, around 80? I use R/O water only so I have a decent start on water params... I dont know if these regani specifically are black or white water but I presume closer to black conditions is best for spawning. I dont have time to try until I finish my spring course and finish shutting down some of my tanks. Congrats on the spawn! How big are your adults now and the fry?
  13. Oh cool! Did you guys get more than two or just two? I was thinking about getting a small group but im hoping just this pair will be fine together. They seem to be ok with eachother... sometimes they are sitting together and usually are always nearby each other.
  14. Awesome! Did you get some from the same batch? Do you keep any other Creni? I missed out though because I sorta watched them for about a month... there were some nicer ones before but oh well, haha.
  15. Well, there was a tank full of these guys at an LFS for a little while... since i love pike cichlids... I had to have some, haha. Picked them up a few days ago. My first true dwarf species (from the wallaci group). The rest of my pikes are groups lugubris & one from reticulata. Here they are, its a male and a female (female has the dorsal ocelli). They are both... around 2.3 inches long, the male might be 3. The female knew was was up and had no problem posing, the male was hiding in the pipe, lol. Without further adue! The male is as colourful as the female, he just doesn't have the spots. Oh well. Thanks for looking! Cheers, Chris
  16. Your T5's are high output T5's. As long as your clam etc... are not beside where the light is (above them) then you should have no problem. People keep clams under 2 T5 HO tubes often and it works fine. Even SPS will be fine under those lights. As long as the lights are within 6-8" of the top of the water or less then your good! (for reference - Aquarium Illusions in edmonton uses T5's fixtures over all of their display/retail tanks in the whole store and uses T5's in some of their farm tanks and they do awesome). And if you go on Reef Central you'll be able to find similar replies suggesting that T5's are fine for SPS and clams. Cheers, Chris
  17. Wow superb job on this setup! The tank looks awesome! Woot really cool to see someone else using zavlar! I have 4 gallons of it myself (4x1gal pails, couldnt order individually so I'll have to sell some) but was just waiting to try it out on a tank! Only a few people have done it so far but it looks awesome! Did you cover with the tiles so that you wouldn't get the brown zavlar look after sitting under water? haha. And I assume you just slapped the tiles right on to the wet zavlar? How did you seal the front panel with it? I was thinking on my tank that I would put zavlar around the window opening, and then put the glass(or acrylic, dont know yet?) against it and then zavlar up and over the edge onto he glass as well (to have like a 'double-seal', if that makes any sense?). Cheers, And thanks for sharing! Chris
  18. I think the salt would be counter-productive to maintaining the low pH that discus need. I dont know if I would add salt with discuss unless, as mentioned, you were trying to treat something. I do however run salt in my South and Central american tanks most of the time but its only like a quarter to half a cup in like 75g for example. Fish seem to heal from any injuries faster with a tad bit of salt in the tank and I dont use much so my pH isnt affected. I have yet to have any fish develop any infections from injury or get sick or anything and have been doing it this way for a couple years. *Knock on wood. Cheers, Chris
  19. 600g... big tank normally right? But these HUGE fish make it look tiny! Haha. Great shot! Thanks for sharing! Beautiful fish!
  20. Pictures? THe fish should be doing better by now im assuming?
  21. Does anyone know if its safe for them to have been looping a rope through that 'hole' (cant remember the name of it) through the middle of their head like they were? That made me feel bad for the fish, lol. And damn, those things were freaking HUGE!
  22. Czecmate: you said something about 'is just pure salt'... but, that does not nessecarily mean the salt is ok to use. Did you know that Sodium Hydroxide is classified as a salt? It is nowhere near what we would use in our fish tanks. Potassium Hydroxide and Calcium Phosphate are other examples of chemical compounds that classify as salts. Sodium Chloride is also a salt (Table Salt)... but even pure(though usually iodized which makes it even less acceptable), is still not reccomended for a saltwater tank. Unless you know exactly the chemical formula of the salt, and that it is acceptable to use, it is best to stick with Marine Salts. These salts will allow the water the ability to dissolve the correct amounts of oxygen for your animals, and also provide most of the important trace elements your animals need, especially with regular water changes. This will greatly simplify the process you go through, reduce the amount of work, and usually guarentee better results (especially if using good salt).
  23. Your welcome. And, those lifespans would all assume idea conditions. Unfortunately, I doubt all the shrimp died around the same time just from old age. There may have been a small temporary change they just could not handle? Sorry to hear about the loss. Chris
  24. Actually, as Sharuq1 mentioned... Dried coral, like coral skeleton, now has restrictions placed on it's import, just like live corals, and so it has actually not nessesarily increased in value, but has not decreased, because of it's rarity, and increased difficulty to find. I do agree though, that person is asking far too much, lol.
