  1. ive used the target brand play sand in the 140 and 170 gallon tanks and i would definitely say it was a good idea to do a good number of rinses on it. lots of natual particles and debri i dont want in my tank. not to mention all the clay silt. was very noticibly dirty water for the first few rinses (and dont you dare say i just got unlucky with all my bags)
  2. i want to just buy a setup thats ready to go if possible. i dont have time to do anything more than i have to here lol thanks Kyle
  3. do you know if its been cross bred with anything??. it seems to be color morphing. i would just wait it out. im not sure if its the same as the taiwan reef.. they do not color up unless there is a female present. if the fish is very youg then its beause its not mature. i would just give it some time. someone else chime in...
  4. hey guys so i just picked up a 170 gal in the for sale section and i want to run a sump on this tank. Im looking to buy a sump setup that is ready to go, minus the plumbing. I just want to know if anyone knows the best place to get that type of setup at a LFS in either calgary or edmonton? Hoping for a sump in the 50 gallon area ideally. tank is setup with a side/internal overflow and i believe the hole in the bottom of the tank is a 2" if that matters. Will be RBP in this tank so im looking for around 2000gph turnover thanks for any advice Kyle
  5. I believe source aquatics is partnered with Bow Valley Aquariums They used to be, but are not anymore.. i was talking with Bow Valley Aquariums just the other day and got quite the earful about how they were no longer associated hahaha.. which was kinda funny cause i was all... I never would have heard of you if not for Source.. but anyway.. still looking for custom tank builder.. Also i Went Down to Elite today, but they were closed i was really hoping to take a look at their stuff. weird, because when i tried calling source about a sump, i got ray and he was happy to talk to me and recommended me to call bow valley.. i havent heard anything about what happened but personally im not really worried
  6. WARNING! MEGA PICS! my gfs tanks... 40 gallon planted, with 2 bolivian rams (5 before but lost 3 to TB), 1 bamboo shrimp, 1 bristle nose, 1 rubberlip, 5 rummy nose tetras, 2 java loaches, 3 glass catfish. couple shots of Bonnie (female) Clyde likes to sit in his current so the pics are a little blurry but you can see his beautiful color..
  7. if the trim has a brace built in then yes the top one is important. the bottom one is more important than the top is. the bottom has a lip to hold some of the force on the bottom pane of glass once the load is on the tank. that being said, i have a 140 gallon tank sittin in my kitchen with no trims and its great. i put a couple of pieces of foam here and there directly under the bottom pane before i put the tank on the stand to take some of that force. if it was on a smaller tank then i wouldnt worry as much. my .02 Kyle

  10. thats very cool and Im quite impressed with your setup. I really like the idea of a big pond for rays and i think you must be a very good keeper to be able to do so. Good job and I hope they go to good owners if you end up selling them. Very very cute for sure! Kyle
  11. that would make for a VERY strong stand. Its how I build my 140 gallon tank stand and its a tank, especially when the plywood is screwed on Kyle
  12. $65 to 85 for most of them but he can make you pretty much what ever you want out of any rocks you choose. Some types of rocks would affect hardness Kyle
  13. My GF goes to innasfail farmers market every thursday and she finally convinced me to get her a center piece for her future planted tank. the guys who makes these pieces madea couple custom ones that we got to choose from.. ill post a few pics she took today at market. all of these pieces are covered in a lacquer but he will recreate or make a custom piece without that lacquer. the lacquer is to protect them outdoors in gradens (which is what they are meant for) very nice man to deal with and goes well out of his way for you. Kyle
  14. i cant really help too much because your english/gramar is freaking horrible. You should try to form some sentences every once and a while.. Kyle
  15. apparently he is a she and she just laid well over 100 eggs in the far corner of her tank. We had no idea why he would have been getting so much more aggressive lately but now we know.. Kyle
  16. a couple new videos from his tank cleaning this morning Kyle
  17. that was actually just the end of the whole deal. He was going at it a little better at the start but we didnt get any video of that stuff Thanks for the comment guys! We sure like his personality Kyle
  18. His name is Diablo and he is roughly 1.5 years old Kyle
  19. I had no idea the spca took fish.. What are some examples of the cichlids they have? Kyle
  20. I was very tempted to buy some of them when I was there about a month ago. I wasnt sure how they would get along with my natural jewel cichlid so i decided against.. Maybe I will look into getting one female now Kyle
  21. nice fish! Did you pick up your neon jewel from picese? Kyle
