  1. Actually I put the Koi out earlier in the week...but they are doing just fine. Not to active when it is cold...but since I have thrown in a 300W heater they have been a little more active. Maybe when it get warmer I'll disconnect it...
  2. my thoughts exactly...I'm just a cheap bastard.
  3. You know what the funny thing is that...I still purchased another 405. own 2x405, 1-205 & trying to sell a 104. so I shouldn't complain.
  4. my issue is that I've ran into a lot of sellers who want to much for their used stuff...not maybe here on this forum but on want ads for example? just checking for some feedback...thanks for the response.
  5. I know when selling your used Equipment we all would like to sell it for top dollar or just get rid of it? I know when purchasing used Equipment we all would like to get it for next to nothing most of the time? So when determining the purchase price of a used item, no matter if it has been used for a short time or for multiple years...is there a formula determining what is a fair price or market value? 15% each year of use?
  6. Another way is to inject water in the intake hose with a python hose from the tap...usually a two person job to shut off the tap.
  7. DIY Pond Filter - You Tube search Looks so easy to do & materials are cheap! Why spend that much money at the Pet Store or Home & Garden Center. When you can build it yourself, Save Lots O' $'s

  10. You should also check out You Tube...search for DIY Pond Filters. It looks so easy to do & materials are cheap. Most expensive piece wood be your pump. I would say 1/4 the price you would spend at a Pet Shop.
  11. this happens to me pretty much every maintenance day...I'll have to try "The Vas"?
  12. thanks for the input... I have already done same started the pump & throw in a small heater if that will make a difference? Anyways to Feeder Goldfish have been in the pond for 24hrs, still alive. Also have removed the heater from my holding tank in which the Koi are residing now...to hopefully acclimatize them to colder water. Maybe by the end of the week?? Keep me posted. G.
  13. Pond Koi Temperature Tolerances? I've done some research & a lot have said that Koi don't like temperatures lower then 10C & nothing greater than 25C. My questions is that...how early can I stock my pond this year? They have spent the winter inside & are new to outdoors.
  14. I also need to do some huge upgrading or get rid of some fish.
  15. wow...this is a great site...good job.
  16. Hello, If anyone of you like "Fancy Goldfish" like Ranchu's, Black Moore's, Oranda's & Ryukin's...the "Fat" kind. You should go the Big Al's on Mcknight...they have a huge Red Ranchu. The Biggest I've ever seen live or on the Web. Must be the size of a Softball or 5-pin bowling ball...just huge & fat. It was not for sale for a while...but money talks. It went for $250 & about 4 yrs old the fish is... Guess what the name was "Utter", that's right the name of the nipple of a cow. Take a look while it's there. I hope to grow mine that big. G.
  17. Hello, I have had a Outdoor pond for the past few years now...but only started to keep Young Koi inside for the past winter. Also in a Rubbermaid Container 189L...yes it does sag half full. Definitely check out that UFA Farm Supply Store, for Live Stock Water Trough...let you know of the prices. But my question is that they have been very jumpy, darting around not like being looked at to much. The Flee/Flight response from a predator. Will these guys calm down as they get older...would like to be able to hand feed them later. Thanks, G.

  20. Hello, Does anyone know how to care for Swim Bladder Issues with a Ranchu/Lionhead Goldfish. Symptoms are uncontrolled bobbing at surface & vertical alignment in the tank. Seems to feed okay? Thanks, G.
  21. Hello, My issue with Fluval Canister Filters is that after cleaning them...you really have to make sure the seals are tight even thought the clips have been fastened. Almost every time after maintenance, clips are clamped down & I have to push down on the top 1/2 dozen times to ensure a water tight seal. Have had a few leaks, damaging the floor. All my filters are fairly brand new & cleaned on a regular basis. Might switch next time in the market...all in all I have been very happy with the performance, just that one thing & some times the primer needs a extra pump or two? Thanks.
