Totally my cichilds took 3 times to get things right, I'm not too worried about the first couple times see how it goes and what it amounts to. The eggs are fertilized so only time will tell I guess I checked them this morning and they are still there and they are guarding.

So all this time watching ym angels swim around pushing another angel away I've finally proved to myself what I was seeing was right. These 3 angels for the past 3 months have been pairing off and I was begining to think they weren't and I was making things up in my head. Today finally I see that they have spit out eggs on my amazon sword woohoo. This after a 2 day no light period because I was seen a little more algae then I wanted which isn't much. It couldn't have been took long maybe acouple hours ago as the male was still fertilizing the eggs! Hmmm now to convince my girlfriend to let me get another tank for my breeding angels... not likely. Anyways they are in a community tank atm with Cardinals BN's Cories, 2 yoyo's I don't much suspect many to reach the swimming stage. I'm just hoping they don't tune up any of my other fish! I'll try to keep you guys posted, but I don't suspect too much.

I would say plant it, that way the swords root systems can expand and gather nutrients from the substrate better.

Hey, Substrate is really your choice whether you want to fork out for expensive stuff or just use plain old sand - As long as your dosing some sort of Ferts ei. Flourish, Excel, Dry in the Water Column your plants will be fine with feeding through your water column. If your worried you can always use root tabs for your heavy root feeders - Vals, Swords, Lotus, Crypts. Lighting to be honest you can get by with lower lights in your kit hood I would assume they are just T8 lights, which to be honest I've grown plants with no problem. If you do use those lights just don't expect the amount of growth you would with higher WPG. If you decide to get diffrent lights you can look into reading lights and just replace the bulb with a 40W - 6700k or something along those lines if you don't mind the eye sore. Fert dosing - I've never really stepped into excel becasue everything I read about people using it there is 5 bad expirences to the 1 good. I have some on order that i'm giong to try to dose and see what happens in my 55G hoping for the good. Currently I jsut dose Flourish and added a few root tabs for my heavy feeders. I personally don't buy fish to do certain stuff ei clean algae, my tanks I haven't had any problems with Algae once you get your photo period and fert dosing all in balance you shouldn't see much algae. Buy fish that you like and appeal to you. Shrimp and Otto's are a great algae force but I would have to say I like the BN Pleco the most.

DING --- Thanks Jason - I wasn't sure if they were in with the plants I got from you or not. That would make alot more sense to me right now. The runner or stalk is thick and stiff. Haha alright mystery solved.

See I knew deep down they weren't Vals - But seeing that 2 propgrated via Runner I was confused.

Hey so recently I was looking around in my tank and I stumbled across 5 plants that look like Vals and Swords. I'm really confused I would of wrote these off as swords because 3 don't have runners - But 2 are attached via runner so I'm super confused. The leaves are wider then then the vals I have now and don't look like Vals at all. I planted all but 1 beside my vals in the back of my tank for comparison and they looked way different. Anyways I'm stumped. Anyways here's the pics - I can try and get better pics if needed.

I think neons would look crazy - with their glowing blue and red against the black and green.

Hey Tanker, Wondering have you looked into "Pond Armor" - Like Jason I kick around on the MFK Forums quite abit alot of reading and info. It seems that in the DIY Plywood builds I see Pond Armor come up all the time. http://www.pondarmor.com/store/index.htm It's expensive - I haven't looked into any other products but I thought I would give a suggestion, I don't have any expirence with it and i've never used it.

I always enjoy your pictures, the clarity and shots that you come up with are amazing! Something I always wonder - How the hell do you figure out all the names of these birds haha, some of them i've never seen or heard of ever.

Reduce your photo period and do some big WC's.

Huge water changes no lights and black out the tank I would First try before you treat with peroxide like you were saying in that other post also removed all the algae you can from your water glass ad rocks

Hey, Sherry - Any suggestions how I can get the backround black without having to drain and move the tank, I was meaning to do it before I moved the tank but I was a little to excited and just skipped that step! Jason - Thanks for the names since I got most of the plants apart from the Hornwort and Sword from you, I figured you might know a few haha. Also I have the lotus that you gave me behind the Hornwort and sword I don't believe it's growing up but it's growing out I think, it has gotten alot wider since I put it in there I think i'm going to move it into the 20G right away anyways I forgot about it until a few nights ago when I trimmed the ones in front. Also the lotus does it feed from the substrate or water column? should I root tab it? I would love to see it thrive it's such a nice plant. Also does anyone know how I can duplicate my sword? I know that it could send plantlet to the top of the tank or it also sprouts a sister plant right from the stem, I believe I was reading today I'm going to check when I get home since i've had it and if you seen the pics from when I first got it it's tripled in size, I didn't notice that until I seen a pic from a month ago on my iPhone. Pointed at both of you or anyone else, I haven't seen my vals send out any runners yet and I don't think they are doing to great leaves arn't as green as I would like them, could this be possibly by burying the rhizome? I tried to pull it up a little I guess I'll check how good it has rooted tonight as well. I've also got a plant from blake and double the vals in the corner from Raj, both of which I'm hoping do very well! I will post pics again in about a week or so. I'm planning of taking pics of my 20G planted as well when I get home and update that in my journal.

Hey all finally decided to do my 55G Planted Journal!!! I've got plants from many different places, Thanks to Blake, Jason, and Raj!! Anyways I've played around with it alot and I'm in the process of getting Pressurized CO2 But this is what it looks like now! Lighting: 4 - 39W T5 Bulbs Substrate: Playsand Plants: ? (If you see anything you reconize please PM me and post haha) Hornwort Fish: 3 Angelfish 2 Green Cories 2 Juvi Cories 3 Orange Tetras 3 Otto's Future Fauna - Neons, 5 BN's, 10 more Cories! 2 of the angels that I believe are pairing off! I know that it's a little messy in there with the plants, but as soon as they take off, I"m going to do some rearranging, I need to move the Horn and the other in the middle to the middle back and move the vals I have stretching across just to the corner! There is work for another day though.

Do we have to buy memberships to attend? Or do you just buy membership if you want to sell stufF?
