  1. Ouch. Seems like we're leaning on the side of nope. I guess that's what happens when you don't come around for almost two years.
  2. Hello Fairdeal.. It has been a while :P This isn't a specific request per se, but I'm wondering if you're still bringing in fish to Edmonton? I've lost some fish over the few years since I last bought some off you and I think it's time to get my tank back to its full glory. I still have all of the golden otos and petricolas though! I think I need some more petricolas though. And definitely cardinal tetras.. Maybe two new red rams since I lost both of them.
  3. The 48" T5HO's at the hydroponics store on Fort Road were $12.99. Thanks!
  4. One of the 48" T5HO bulbs in my fixture looks like it's about ready to give up and I just checked bigalsonline.ca, and the bulbs are INSANELY expensive! Does anyone know where I could find perhaps some plain old GE 48" T5HO bulbs? Last time I checked home depot, I didn't see anything.. I live near the Clareview area and would prefer something near here if possible. Cheers!!
  5. BEFORE: Sometime september.. AFTER: ISO 100 Exposure 1/2 sec Aperture 3.5 Focal Length 18mm Click on link for massive resolution picture https://lh3.googleus...s0/IMG_1162.JPG Merry [belated] Christmas and a [soon to be] Happy New Year! That certain someone sure is correct; great to see a fellow TOOL fan. Unfortunately we are now surrounded in a world where people expect/crave immediacy. If I've learned anything out of fish and plant keeping (I also love orchids), it's that I should accept the simple things in life, and of course, not to expect everything to happen right away. My glass box of water is my own little slice of nature and I love coming home to a nice inviting, tropical looking aquarium. To know that I've successfully managed to set up and run an aquarium makes me smile. I didn't really run the 2213 as a main filtration component, it was just sort of there until I got the 2075. I currently have the 2075 spray bar on the right side of the aquarium, with the intake located near the middle. On boxing day, I bought two Koralia Evolution 1050's from Big Al's. I have on located just below the spray bar, pointed towards the surface to create a sort of gyre motion in the tank. This one runs 24/7. The second one is positioned 30cm from the left on the back pane, close to the surface, and points towards the middle of the front pane of glass. Again this gets the water in a seconds circular motion. I have it set on a timer to run in 15-30m intervals from 12pm-12am along with the lights, and then is off for the dark time.
  6. You can use a laptop's lcd screen, or even a phone as most of them have a polarized coating/layer this link explains it all http://www.salt-city.org/showthread.php?9542-How-to-tell-if-glass-is-tempered.
  7. LOL. This is my only tank hahahah. I've been wanting to change out the playsand for black flourite, but the stuff is expensive
  8. Thanks :P This tank is actually very simple. I run my Hagen 2x HO-T5 for 10 hours hanging 12" above the tank. No CO2, and used cheap materials. Minus the EHEIM 2075 and fish, the total cost with supplies, tank, and light would have been only around $300 Almost a year for it to settle in. Many ups, downs and frustrations haha. I've lost fish, blew dirt everywhere, cheapo bulbs blowing, spilled water, drained too much water, accidentally killed fish when I forgot to put the end on the hose when draining water. The list could go on and on
  9. COMMENTS???? View count just keeps on going up! :P Before: Chopped up! leave my food alone :icon_twis :angryfire
  10. 2x eheim 2215 or 2217 for ultimate filtration/flow easy to clean, lots of bio. relatively cheap if you can find one used (which is bound to be in great condition considering some of these canisters still run 30 years later)
  11. Long due update indeed! Been very busy lately. This is the perfect tank for me haha. [04/11/11] [06/29/11] No water changes other than the few 20% ones here and there because I got paranoid. It's been well over a few months though and no deaths so I assume things are good The two female rams I put in got bullied to death by the dominant ram in the tank I think. He looks like a devil with his red eyes. I would like to move the vals on the left to the back of the tank so they don't occupy so much of the front as well as move the tiger lily somewhere else since it has grown so huge. Maybe place it behind the amazon sword. Idk. Here's a few more pics from that same day. Just didn't have time to go through em all. The pygmy chain sword started out as a single tiny pretty small plant. I found the plant to the right of it floating after doing a rescape. It is unidentified and unknown :icon_ques
  12. I always soaked my betta's food which seemed to counteract this problem. Try some smooshed boiled peeled pea. Sprinkle some dried garlic in water. I would microwave it for 30 secs in just enough water to cover a pea or two. This will get your betta poopin edit: I see this was already mentioned :P
  13. I don't even want to think about moving my 75g when the time comes. I'm going to smash the fricken thing in the process of attempting to catch all the little fish I have out of anger lmao
  14. LOL this is great! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. PRIME STINKS!!! My mom can attest to this every time I open the bottle in the living room ahahahah Lessons: -DO NOT Let glass lids slip from your fingers when you're closing them. (oops) -Fish keeping can get expensive, but this forum is full of great people willing to help -Don't cheap out on equipment, you'll end up buying that snazzy filter when the crappy one just isn't enough for your standards -Your favourite fish -WILL- die one day =[ -Aquariums will eat up your spare time :P
